Hey, can anyone signpost me to any good websites/ groups/ support networks for young autistic people who are now 18+, looking to develop their understanding around their diagnosis/ further develop their self advocacy skills? If f2f, preferably West Midlands based? #mySLTday
My favourite thing about Friday mornings are Lego Therapy! My lads worked hard today at having a go at the instructor role which for them is what they find most difficult! They’ve also started to develop some great reflection skills at the end of the sessions! #mySLTday
@Claire_SLT can’t believe today was your last day with us (and you spent it doing admin, classic!) thank you for everything you’ve taught me and your continued support as such a good friend in and out of work, going to miss you so much. BCU are lucky to have you! ♥️
@RKSENDco@SquidSingh @KTDR3W @louisecass@LL_is_thinking @Siacha83 @MrWilliamson11 @MrWilliamsSEN@ctljenk@PRU_Leader@CG_PRU I use a mix of Talkabout resources, zones of regulation and games that include using emotion vocabulary within a narrative to help secure the young peoples meaning of the key emotions we learn about. Even work with using mirrors to see what we look like when we feel an emotion!
My SLT morning: Presenting with @Claire_SLT at the Public Trust Board Meeting to help inform and raise awareness around our services in Sandwell relating to Youth Justice Service/ AP Task Force and Violence Reduction Unit ☺️ #mySLTday
@MelR4970@Claire_SLT Thank you for having us! We look forward to liaising with other professionals to help improve and promote the need of supporting and identifying SLCN/ SEMH amongst our young people and preventing them from getting to exclusion/PRU’s/ Youth Offending. 👏🏽
Treated myself to two early Christmas presents this year! Some students at @AlbrightCentre taught me how to play Dobble and I was in disbelief at how rubbish I was at it.. time to get practising ready for the new year! 🤓
As part of our CPD, we looked at expression in our recent Twilight Training session. Intermediaries need to assess if someone can express themselves properly when giving evidence or instructing their legal team. We created a mindmap of the factors we consider during assessments.
This afternoon I had the pleasure of going to a school’s career fair with my future sister in law to raise more awareness around speech and language therapy as a career (and Holly raising awareness around radiography) 📚🎓🏫 #mySLTday
