Friends. If you go to a cafe, bar or restaurant and your experience was not satisfactory please believe me when I say this: IT IS NOT PERSONAL.
We're human, we make mistakes. We don't set out to mess up your order or make you wait just for kicks.
Everyone's doing their best.
@riders994@mattadler81 So I once went to this place for brunch w/some friends. I don't eat pork, but the way this placed served brunch was they just send out plates whenever they're ready. The first few plates all had pork. Was it frustrating? Of course, but I didn't feel like I was being singled out.
@riders994@mattadler81 Interesting, I can't think of any restaurant I've ever been to where they don't ask "does anyone have any allergies or dietary restrictions?" Not to seem like I'm doubting you, just genuinely surprised.
@riders994@mattadler81 Unprofessional? Most definitely. Personal? Unless someone working there knew you (like an ex) it most definitely was not personal. Restaurants are supposed to be ready to handle an allergy, it's why the server normally asks at the beginning of service.
@riders994@mattadler81 And also, I hope this doesn't sound like victim-blaming, but 2 hours is a long time to wait. At any point did you ask to speak to a manager? Either way, this just sounds like poor training, not a personal attack on you all.
@riders994@mattadler81 So you felt that was personal, though? Not just poor training/communication? In a full restaurant the server and kitchen decided that making you feel bad was worth more than turning a table? Now I'm curious about where this was but I respect if you don't wanna blast them.
@riders994@mattadler81 When does that happen? And honestly I misinterpreted your comment because it didn't even occur to me that that's anything any server would say.
@REACTIVE_AERO@Yesitsrobharvey Or....or -- just hear me out -- maybe tips are why people take serving jobs in the first place, not the wages?
Crazy thought, eh?
Because trust me, the hourly pay alone ain't enough to put up with what hospitality workers have to put up with daily.
