I also had a similar event $1,500,000 dollars in bitcoin:native and ethereum:0xa0b86991c6218b36c1d19d4a2e9eb0ce3606eb48 were stolen from my @MetaMask wallet on April 22, 2025..

The bitcoin was in a vault on @august_digital as $WBTC and the $USDC was deposited in a vault on @maplefinance so I thought my assets were safe in these trusted vaults.

What I didn’t know was that they issued me liquid staking tokens that could be sold on secondary markets by anyone; I thought only I could withdraw these receipt tokens from the vault issuers.

The hack happened at about 2am, I was staking some tokens and approved it on my MetaMask and suddenly my net worth went from 2m to 0$…

The hackers took everything of value from my @MetaMask wallet instantly, they then sold the staked tokens on the secondary market with a 25% loss for ethereum:native which cannot be frozen..

After that they had #eth tokens on main net which couldn’t be frozen, I tried to contact @maplefinance and @august_digital but the staked tokens were already sold for a huge loss and not withdrawn through the vault providers, this all happened instantly within a minute.

There was nothing I could do, then the eth went to about 20+ different wallets on 3 exchanges..

I went to the police and put it a police report but the police were not quick enough to have a judge make the exchanges freeze the accounts, so my money was withdrawn while I waited for help from the RCMP.

It’s been over a year and I’ve talked to police many times as they try and trace the hackers with help from 2/3 of the exchanges, @Gate and @MEXC, @kucoincom refused to help the authorities. I had @MatchSystems do a full report for the authorities as well so they could respond.

Because the @RCMPONT + @OPP_News took too long to contact the exchange, my life savings disappeared and were slowly withdrawn from all the exchanges..

The lesson learned is never put much in a MetaMask, have it connected to a hardware wallet such as @Trezor so you have to enter a password and double check the transaction.

My life savings disappeared because of one click and I’ve worked super hard to try and build myself back up to support my family.

That was everything to me….

It’s gone and the police still haven’t had any luck and because they didn’t act quickly enough to have my funds frozen on the exchanges I probably won’t see any of it ever again.

Luckily I own a house and a nice vehicle paid for with case and I am trying to rebuild my portfolio but it will be years and I may never be a liquid multi millionaire again…

I work hard to support my family and my son so he can have the life I was never able to have as a child.

Be careful with your crypto because even a whale can lose everything in an instant..
