@Sempreiot@cheese_not_soup@DailyLoud They have to hold classes in developing countries like yours to teach people that if you hurt an animal it’ll probably become vicious
It’s gotta be so morally confusing for Bob. Catholics are supposed to live within their means and donate to the poor, but all of his favorite athletes are bringing him priceless merchandise
It’s funny how Florida loves to tell everyone how “free” it is, yet everyone there always seems to end up in handcuffs. Another reason that New England is the true home on freedom and inheritor of Hancock, Warren, and Adams.🌲
@RobinOdegard@RebeccaNP@At1724 I mean at its heart I suppose it’s an ideal. I know we could be doing this all over the globe but choose not to presently. And it’s a shame
@RobinOdegard@RebeccaNP@At1724 And most places don’t have the money or don’t want to put it towards something they don’t see it as worth or for whatever moral/cultural norms. Doesn’t make it right you know
@RobinOdegard@RebeccaNP@At1724 This is a good instance of someone being mentally ill and receiving effective enough treatment that she was reintegrated into wider society.
She had adult onset schizophrenia and had a psychotic break. She spent ten years in prison and is now on treatment. There is no problem with this. People deserve second chances and people with mental illness should be allowed to be part of society.
@RobinOdegard@RebeccaNP@At1724 Need. There aren’t enough resources for both parties. Their needs may be similar, but like you said, society’s needs may dictate a criminal be kept away to keep themselves and others safe.
Either way, I can agree a more equitable sharing of resources
@RobinOdegard@RebeccaNP@At1724 Someone who is sick enough to do what she did probably can not be held to account. And if she can, it will take years and years of rehabilitation. Trying to rehab a person like that isnt overly focusing on the perpetrators. Victims should have access to whatever programs they
@RobinOdegard@RebeccaNP@At1724 But these people are created. What’s the point of calling them evil and punishing someone who’s been so heavily traumatized they behave that way? Punitive justice has been proven time and time again as being ineffective at rehabilitation or dissuading serious crime
@RobinOdegard@RebeccaNP@At1724 Nah it completely does change someone’s agency. Personality disorders exist. Many of these disorder heavily distort reality, people’s sense of self, and security in relationships, etc. I wouldn’t say we need to let unrehabilitated violent psychopaths or narcissists run around
@RobinOdegard@RebeccaNP@At1724 Abuse victims have the same neuroanatomy of war vets and first responders. Would you say it’s suicidal empathy to care for those people? I don’t think so. Caring is good. You are part of a species who is one of the very few who evolved special neurons just to feel empathy.
@RobinOdegard@RebeccaNP@At1724 Nah she is man. Youre regurgitating bs because you can’t even admit you don’t care. You have to put yourself above someone else. We are a social species. Taking care of each other only benefits us. Idk or even care about her story but it sounds like she was abused a lot.
Pando is currently slowly dying (the root system is healthy, but new shoots are getting eaten or trampled by mule deer much faster than old trees are aging out)
Save the Pando
