I'm saddened to learn that a @DeKalbCountyPD officer was killed in the line of duty yesterday. @GAFirstLady and I join the officer's loved ones and the DeKalb County community in grieving this tragic and senseless loss.
Today @GAFirstLady and I were joined by Georgians from all walks of life for the lighting of the Christmas tree at the State Capitol. This season brings out the best in all of us as we gather to celebrate the greatest gift that came into the world so many Christmas nights ago.
While all Georgians join in grieving this national loss, we are comforted in knowing that President Bush is reunited with his beloved Barbara. @GAFirstLady and I send our deepest condolences to the Bush family and to all those fortunate enough to have known him.

I’m saddened to hear of the passing of my friend, Mac Collins. Mac and I served in Congress together and I admired his leadership and dedication. With heavy hearts, @GAFirstLady and I offer our condolences to his loved ones and join in remembering his service to Georgia.
Today @GAFirstLady and I hosted former Georgia governors, including President Carter, former first families, and Gov.-elect @BrianKempGA and his family for lunch at the Governor’s Mansion. We were honored to welcome the newest family that will call this place of history home.
This is truly a homegrown children’s book, as copies will be printed on Georgia paper through a partnership with the @GaForestryFdn and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, and every public elementary school library and public library in the state will receive a free copy. (2/2)
Today I joined representatives from @GetGAReading and the @GaForestryFdn at the Decatur Public Library for the unveiling of “Forever Loblolly,” a new book written by Georgia authors Carmen Agra Deedy and John McCutcheon and illustrated by Georgia illustrator Tom Gonzalez. (1/2)
