I cannot imagine being a college coach right now. Kids and parents can say whatever they want in an attempt to get coaches fired or in trouble, often with little to no consequences, while coaches are rarely allowed to publicly defend themselves.
As a former college coach, I’ve been in their shoes, and I genuinely feel for them.
I’m not saying every coach is right, and I’m not saying every player or parent is wrong. I’m simply saying there are always two sides to a story, and the internet usually only hears one of them.
I’m glad Karen’s name was cleared and that this situation brought attention to what is really happening in college sports today.
This is exactly why college coaches recruit character, family values, and parents just as much as they recruit athletic talent.

A LOT of college coaches do NOT want that drama in their stands. Parents — you are being recruited almost as much as the student-athlete.
My advice: if you wouldn’t want your child to lose an opportunity or scholarship over what you say or how you act… don’t say it. Support matters. Character matters. Representation matters.
Such a fun weekend in Dalton! We went 5-0 for the whole tournament, and were in the semi-final before the rain stopped us. As a team we had SUCH a great weekend. Can’t wait for practice the next 2 weeks off! #keepgrinding@StarsNatWard@starsnationalfp

50% of athletes never make it out of the portal — and never play college softball again.
If you’re planning to enter the portal, you better have a plan and guidance from people who have real experience helping athletes get out of the portal and onto a roster.
