New Paper by Prof. Andrew McBride and Prof. Paul Steinmann published in CMAME on "Continuum-kinematics-inspired peridynamics for transverse isotropy" the paper can be accessed here: https://t.co/Qs8kvhzwlR
Dr Ji-Eun Byun and her colleagues delivered a training workshop in the Philippines for local engineering officials. The workshop successfully demonstrated that dedicated training sessions can make technically intensive tools accessible to non-experts.
New paper from Chao Zhou's (https://t.co/7cGuBV16uS) PhD project on modelling the failure of strain hardening cementitious materials: https://t.co/LbOFLxjQ5p (open access)
Our PhD student Davood, presented his work at BAMC2024 and Huddersfield University's Elasticity Day see below for more information.

Last week was good for us.
We successfully held a well-attended minimposium on #ECCOMS2024 in #Lisbon about open-source software, with good speakers and representation.
Moreover, MoFEM (@mofemjoseph) has been accepted as an affiliated code to @NumFOCUS.
Congratulations to PhD student, Paulo R. Refachinho de Campos, jointly supervised by @ZienkiewiczInst, @GCEC_ and UPC, who has been selected as the winner of the 2023 UKACM Roger Owen Prize on the topic related to “SPH for fast dynamics”
Our small project with bubble analysis in MoFEM in the eye made the front cover of the January edition of the Journal of Cataract & Refectory Surgery and generated much interest. It also won a prize for oral presentation at the UKISCRS conference! @GCEC_

Engineers from @UofGlasgow and GCEC are lending their support to a new research hub aiming to bring the benefits of AI to the UK electronics industry. If would you like to know please get in touch with Prof. Vihar Georgiev (@vihardabest). https://t.co/ASWlgTgmOU
New paper from Masoud Ahmadi’s PhD work on an analytical model to predict effective electrical/thermal conductivity of carbon nanotube reinforced polymers. Open access in Mathematics and Mechanics of Solids. https://t.co/8v8OaNLV1t
The UKACM 2024 conference website is now live, and open for abstract submissions.

The deadline for submitting a one-page abstract is 30th November.
We hope to see you in Durham!
The first UKACM Autumn School has been a success. The numbers speak for themselves: 184 registered participants from 22 countries!
UKACM would like to publicly thank the organisers from @GCEC_ for all the efforts to prepare and deliver this online course.
Work with us. We have a great track record. Our group members became professors, and lecturers or started great careers in the industry. You will get great skills in C++ and the art of computational mechanics. @cjpearce (BTW Location Glasgow).

Details for the @UK_ACM Autumn School on "Mixed Finite Element Formulations in Solid Mechanics". can be found below: https://t.co/ae13YqGubl. Course schedule here: https://t.co/SzIPb5Y0aL. Hands-on training with MoFEM @mofemjoseph on the cloud platform will be provided. @GCEC_
Great progress from two of my undergraduate students. We are not there yet, but the best way to learn is to try and to make mistakes. Stay tuned for more nice movies.
An improved version of this paper is now published in Computational Mechanics and can be freely downloaded from https://t.co/dUbEdR2Cgg
Shell buckling is often studied under compressive loads but interesting bifurcations happen when shells undergo large inflation (eg balloons)
Please see my new article in which I investigate computationally the effect of lateral compression on tensile fracture processes.
