I care about strangers because the people I love are strangers in the world and I would hope other people would care for them in moments of their life that occur outside of my presence. Not that complicated.
Work is work. Just work.
It’s important. It’s all encompassing.
But it’s not everything.
It’s not worth getting upset over.
It’s not worth losing sleep over.
It’s not worth feeling inadequate over.
Take a step back.
Take a breath.
Take a break.
Cecile’s “Make Trouble” was an incredibly powerful memoir I read a few years back. Her pro Union, pro choice, and overall pro person advocacy was astounding. On a day where women’s health care choices are being censored, may we all be a little more like Cecile Richards.
Cecile Richards dedicated her life to protecting and expanding women’s rights. She never wavered in her commitment to ensuring that women had access to the reproductive health care they needed, and her leadership at Planned Parenthood led to the inclusion of important healthcare provisions in the Affordable Care Act.
Women of all ages knew they could count on Cecile, and Michelle and I will always be grateful for her advocacy. We send all our love to Kirk, Lily, Hannah, Daniel, and all those who loved and admired her.
Here are my favorite songs from this year! Check them out if you’re looking to shake up your playlist – and let me know if there’s a song or artist I should make sure to listen to.
people who say “why do we need [fine arts, humanities degrees, mid-budget films] when they don’t make a ton of money?” are insufferable. why do we need chrysanthemums? why do we need bonfires or baleen whales or the color blue? we just do. we just do.
