Hard to put into words what this means.
A $50M gift to help us transform care for patients with CSF leaks.
I’m incredibly grateful, humbled by the trust, and feel an enormous responsibility to make sure this changes what is possible for these patients.
A remarkable day. And really, just the beginning.

Brain’s Lymphatic System Plays Role in Migraine Pain
Researchers discovered that the protein CGRP affects the brain's lymphatic system, contributing to migraine pain.
The study reveals that CGRP prevents cerebrospinal fluid from draining, influencing migraine attacks.
This breakthrough could lead to new therapeutic strategies for migraines.
More research is needed to understand the role of sex differences in migraine prevalence.

Really fascinating case, @WouterSchievink .
This work adds to the teaching that in any child with a systemic vascular anomaly or a peri-spinal vascular malformation + headaches, that a CSF-venous or lymphatic fistula should be considered.
Some CSF-venous fistulas are associated with vascular malformations. Biopsy in this 17 y-o girl showed a somatic mutation in the PIK3CA gene. Treatment with Alpelisib targeting the malformation opens the door to medical treatment of certain #CSF leaks #SIH https://t.co/0yXcaRyGOB
Another #CSFLeak paper, out today in @TheAJNR , an incredibly interesting case of CSF-lymphatic fistula in a patient who had a case report written about her 25 years ago in the same journal. We took a transnasal approach to treating this lesion:

45 years ago. It required tremendous coordination and shaped the future for Critical Incident Management. The sights, smells, and sounds linger with many of us. Many lives were changed that night. Blessings to Kansas City.
On the evening of July 17, 1981, tragedy struck Kansas City.
Forty-five years later, we remember the Hyatt Regency collapse and the 114 lives lost, and the countless families affected.

On this Friday and every day in between, we remember our nation’s deployed service members; our family members, loved ones and the many individuals we don’t know, all who have chosen service over self.
We #RememberEveryoneDeployed: Until they all come home.

Let's do better today than we did yesterday. Please pace yourself. Keep your hands to yourself. Don't steal or vandalize. Have fun with your friends, eat good food and have an adult beverage only if you are legal to do so. It will make the rest of the day go so much better.
