GOW is the community group established by those who live around the backcourt bordered by Gibson Street, Otago Street and Westbank Quadrant; Hillhead, Glasgow
Too groovy!
The In Gear boutique, on Gibson Street, in 1966.
The model is Susan Boyd, who went on to become one of the key script writers for EastEnders.
The guy in the window is my late mate, musician and artist, Clifford Hanley Jr (son of journalist and author Cliff Hanley).
Many of our residents may remember Libby Walker from her time here, and her contributions to backcourt art activities. Great to hear of her recent success.
A new plaque we've just put up. It's a bit different from our usual ones as its been done with the Lord Kelvin Appreciation Society to mark the 180th anniversary of Lord Kelvin's discovery of Absolute Zero. We swear this is all true, honest, and you know you can trust us! ๐
We have received ten applications for Fireworks Control Zones in our community, and we want YOUR input on theses zones! ๐
Share your thoughts in our survey to shape the decision before 18 June.

@UserrReb@MyGlasgowCC@MarthaWardrop@HillheadKen@PaulJSweeney@SeonadHoy You can see two types of bins in Street View, the open ones you mention, but also the regular street bins with just the side opening.
The problem with the super bins was that they were used as an excuse to reduce servicing, which just led to bigger messes ultimately.
@MyGlasgowCC whatever happened to these super bins with 4G sensors so they will never overflow? Thereโs one overflowing by the Prince of Wales bridge right now. The old bins were in more convenient locations. Cc @MarthaWardrop@HillheadKen@PaulJSweeney
In 1921, former pupil, John Buchan unveiled the schoolโs war memorial, and with that, the school made a promise never to forget the lives, service and sacrifice of these men. We honour that promise today and every day#HutchesonsRemembers #LestWeForgetHGS
@kfullermusic@PoliceScotland Every day. Apparently the council parking attendants can now issue instant PCNs to cars parked on Westbank Quadrant & Otago Street, yet they never, ever patrol at pickup time. Perhaps speak to @GlasgowCC@MarthaWardrop and @PSOSGlasgowCity. We had our own near-miss a month ago.
Edinburgh Council told us "..pollutants, including nitrogen dioxide are higher than the legal standard" (Screen shot August 2023) and this justified a diesel surcharge for residential parking permits.
But council monitoring showed pollution was below all legal standards in 2022.
@kfullermusic The council seems to run the bin collections with no slack at all, so this probably explains why they havenโt collected our blue bins in months due to โlack of staffโ. Lose one driver and the whole thing falls apart.
