@LeeBraganza I still remember the 'Wait... lamb is from LAMBS?' conversation with my little brother as Dad drove past a field of them gambolling about.
@smithsmm Ah, Archibald is flying now, thanks to teachers like you. I find schools in deprived areas, with committed teachers, a delight to visit. Yes, there may be the odd behavioral challenge during talks, but the kids are usually fizzing with ideas they’re bursting to share.
Real climate leadership would make polluters cut emissions, incentivise cleaner production, and invest in low-carbon industry.
Instead we’re spending billions on spineless solutions to help industries hide pollution rather than reduce it. Treat the cause, not the symptoms.
I’m reading up on #PeakCluster which will impact countryside near me. In a nutshell:
Instead of forcing cement and lime producers to cut emissions, a huge pipeline will be built to transport CO₂ across the country and bury it under the Irish sea.
Basically, helping out polluters
Construction means digging up hundreds of kilometers of countryside, damaging habitats, disrupting communities and releasing carbon in the process.
All to keep high-emitting plants running exactly as they do now.
@PiersTorday We're very lucky to have so many incredible authors around today. I think the quality of writing and breadth of imagination expected from authors (not including celebs) is higher than ever. I just wish I could send some of todays books back in time for my younger self to enjoy.
@PiersTorday I don't know if you've read The Great Automatic Grammatizator by Roald Dahl? It seems incredibly prescient now. Though thankfully AI slop writing is still identifiable!
My bestselling #StarTrek novel THE LATTER FIRE celebrates its 10th anniversary & I'm posting a new Author Notes blog on all the lore appearing in this Classic Trek adventure - https://t.co/pAVnwX4p2p

I enjoy my visits to @highgate1565 so much! It's such an honour that this madcap 80's adventure based on the game by @rexbox & @oneofmoo has been a core text for hundreds of pupils! Loved talking about myths and legends and seeing pupils create Highgate dwelling mythical beasts!
Many thanks to children's author @GabrielleKent for leading her workshop with our Year 3 Junior School pupils who are reading her book, 'Knights & Bikes' as part of their core text. Author visits are a great way for pupils to engage with characters and bring books to life.
