Langley should be a hypersonics center of excellence. We already have strong test capabilities, and we should modernize and concentrate resources here, especially in hypersonics, as we blur the line between operating inside and outside Earth’s atmosphere.
Building new infrastructure here makes sense, particularly in hypersonics, while thoughtfully redirecting resources from facilities that served us well decades ago so we can stay focused on the future.
The clock is running! L- 28 days & counting!🚀
Together, we’re going back around the Moon with Artemis II; the first crewed lunar mission in over 50 years.
📅Target: February 6, 2026

In orbit everyone is a gymnast! @astro_timpeake unofficially holds the record with 80 consecutive somersaults (a record that no one has attempted to beat).
Think of them like a pit crew for car races. 🏁
The Artemis II closeout team will play a key role in the hours leading up to launch from Kennedy's Launch Complex 39B. 🚀
The Artemis missions are objectively much more difficult than the Apollo missions. Landing on the lunar south pole presents many challenges not present for the Apollo crews, including the need for a more advanced spacesuit that can mitigate single point failures. The Apollo suits had minimal backups for critical systems; a single failure in life support could have been catastrophic. The #AxEMU is being designed with astronaut safety as the top priority, incorporating redundant backups for the most vital life-support components.
What a way to close out 2025! Our astronauts and the @BlueOrigin team just completed a successful NS-37 launch. Another step toward making spaceflight accessible for everyone.
I was living the dream today speaking with the NASA workforce and taking questions.
Not surprising, the world’s most accomplished space agency has assembled extraordinary talent. I am fortunate to be serving alongside them.
