@NintyFGC@LiquidHbox Now, I agree that there's little chance that a Platform Fighter would have performed better, but that genre does get less game releases in comparison to fighting games, so it's not nearly as saturated, allowing for more wiggle room of consumers even giving it a chance.
@NintyFGC@LiquidHbox Fighting games for years can't have more than a few heavy hitters while the rest die off fast and swiftly. This is especially bad since fighting games are multiplayer focused. Hell, this is also why Capcom stopped making any other fighting game aside from Street Fighter
@SenderwalkTest@HeedTheHeed Yoshi's are Koopa-adjacent. Most Baby Yoshis don't have shells, but during gameplay when they grow up into proper Yoshis their shell seems to form
Clearly it's not something to think too hard about but there's no explanation yet for Yoshi's shell, so it's not entirely impossible
@NintyFGC@LiquidHbox With that said, no Smash clone has ever reached the popularity of Smash itself, there's been a lot of duds and there's no guarantee of the game reaching Rivals of Aether or Brawlhalla status, so it's also not a guarantee
@NintyFGC@LiquidHbox He's saying that the fighting game genre is oversaturated (which is true) and platform fighters less so, thus it probably would have a better chance at survival. Basically being a fighting game already kneecapped it's potential when SF6, Tekken, and Strive dominate.
@Tatwangy@ThePipePlaza Retro Studios biggest strength, seen in the original Metroid Prime Trilogy along with the Donkey Kong Country Returns duology, is their environmental design. Packed with details that makes the world feel alive.
@darkn741 I just did a deep dive of it recently and it's pretty great, but blatantly unfinished. Also I think they wrote themselves in a corner a bit by making Morrigan too strong, it's difficult to see how she can be remotely threatened after she reabsorbed Lilith
@mariocircuit_@Shamaboy11 #1 and #4 are reusing the Jungle Beat render, it's why even being 20 years old they still look relatively good and have great fur. I really hated how quickly Nintendo ditched it.
Basically I'm trying to say that Jungle Beat remains peak DK.
@honeyjamzzz@SenderwalkTest@Floete111 You can't have your cameo make a direct callback to certain events and imply they happened long ago within your very own world and then claim it means nothing for your worldbuilding. Just not how it works.
@honeyjamzzz@SenderwalkTest@Floete111 You can't have your cake and eat it too. You can't have your cameos and references literally act as elements of your worldbuilding and directly reference past events and then pretend they don't matter. Otherwise you'd just not have the reference.
@SenderwalkTest@smb2025@ThePipePlaza People have always wondered why Kamek never aged a day from Yoshi's Island, and this fueled even more after the Mario Movie aged him up
To me, it's a meaningless question that doesn't need to be answered. Yet, I can't help but feel this plot twist exists just to answer that.
@SenderwalkTest@smb2025@ThePipePlaza Oh, another reason why it peeves me off a bit is that, though this is wild speculation on my part with little evidence, it feels like the new lore exist just to explain aspects of Mario's franchise that don't really need to be explained.
@BlackeyeThe2nd@ThePipePlaza As an addendum in Japanese "Bowser's Minions" is usually collectively called the "Bowser Corp", so it makes sense that the different species would have a similar naming structure
