Was encouraged to read the Bible. Many people pushed this: wife, pastor, @X folks like @shawngorham@zachhomol_ to name a few. It is cliche but started the year doing so as a true New Year resolution. Following the chronological guide of The Bible Recap by Tara-Leigh Cobble and reviewing these notes daily with my bride. I will post these daily. Not from a position of superior insight, but from that of a sinful man that has minimal self exposure to long form Bible readings (beyond the lessons of sermons and Bible studies). Day 1-6 will follow this post promptly and then will post daily. I am reading from the NKJV Bible. Feel free to comment on anything, but I may or may not respond. Not seeking engagement but possibly this could be an encouragement to another as it has already been a very positive habit for me.
@vrexec The question is: what do you do after you “win the game”? If the final act is moving to a small farm south of Dublin to read the Classics and trade stocks… then why not get a jump on it now?
Reminds me of the parable of the Mexican fisherman.
@ronrule That’s what they used to do. Both of my grandparents houses were basically that same concept. Not with a pre-poured foundation, but they bought a two bedroom one bathroom house and expanded it, did the work themselves.
@vrexec Wealth past 60 (imho any time before too) is: a family that wants to be around each other, ability to keep up with grandkids, and safely live independently past 90. Wealthy people can do 1 of three. Rich can do 2 of 3. Generational wealth is the trifecta.
@BowTiedBroke The best thing is to have a great family that you all pour into one another, and be healthy. Haven’t met a single person above 75 that doesn’t have their quality of life impacted positively or negatively depending on baseline health and mobility. From there every year is a bonus.
@pbdmcniel Are they ugly? Yes
Is cargo space terrible? Yes
Do they have rust issues? Yes
Do they look great with wood paneling? Yes!
At the very least you can appreciate them. Don’t have to be an Eagle guy.
A true B-side classic!
…. But I would buy an Subaru Brat first!
