New research comparing 68 studies shows Structured Literacy outperforms Balanced Literacy—by a lot.
SL = clearer, stronger reading gains.
BL = a rebrand of Whole Language.
It’s time to teach reading based on evidence, not vibes. 📚✨

It is finally time to release the first episode of Season 6! I had the pleasure of speaking with the amazing Dr. Maria Murray of the @reading_league! I loved learning about the story behind her journey. https://t.co/rSpefWiOuT

Thank you @NateJoseph19 and @NathanielRSwain for this fantastic conversation about RTI and MTSS. Something every educator should listen to. It's about knowing better so that you can do better!

So happy to see this finally happening—after decades of advocacy, change is coming! I’ve been pushing for years, & the changes for kids at risk of reading failure. Excited for the symposium and what’s ahead for public education. #RightToRead#LiteracyMatters
Happy #TBT! Found this old calendar where I was Miss July 2010 💁♀️
Back then, I was told I was too #dyslexic to become a certified #specialed teacher.
Didn’t get that title—but I’ve still changed lives, and I’m proud of the path I’ve taken. 💙

🎙️ Meet Dr. Kathryn Garforth—dyslexia advocate, education expert & host of the #Right2ReadInitiative podcast.
Told she was too dyslexic to teach, she now empowers others through evidence-based literacy & bold conversations. 💬📚

As a dyslexic child I was put into a few reading interventions that didn't work for me before I found one that did. This was very hard on my self esteem. Please don't just assume the interventions that are offered to your child are going to work.
Thank you to @NateJoseph19 for including me in this project. Let's make every minute of intervention time count for students at risk of reading failure! #RightToRead https://t.co/MnhCHHMT89
So this popped up on my feed today… we need to demand better for our children, teens and adults who face the consequences of reading failure either personally or through someone they love. https://t.co/Ro5PKhUpxN #RightToRead
I've got 4 great new books on my bookshelf to read this month... where would you start? @lifelonglit Language for Life, @NathanielRSwain Harnessing the Science of Learning @hruizmartin How Do We Learn or Structured Word Inquiry?
@DeLorenzoEdS @janhasbrouck This saddens me so much! I have heard similar things from others and experienced it with my own children. The problem is that many teachers don’t know any better or understand the research.
