@DrDeCaluwe @SrivatsanRamas2 Guessing you can classify materials in terms of the electronic sphere of influence of any dopant/defect. Graphite will have a well defined reproducible bulk & a small percentage of edges/surfaces with ambiguous properties. Graphene & few-layer graphene have nearly no such 'bulk'.
@SrivatsanRamas2 It's still a young, emerging field & there's no cheap way to produce quality graphene yet. Also, can't imagine graphene completely replacing micron/nano-sized anode (Gr or Si) materials (imagine the SEI nightmare!), perhaps as an additive to stabilize interfaces.

@ndrewwang New science is still possible with simultaneous, in situ methods, big data, ML, AI; there's so much we don't understand, but standardizing these new tools is still far off.
Perhaps we see scientists as heroes mostly in hindsight & they might've wondered the same, at the time.
@DennisKopljar @alexjadecove @bloudermilk Seems there are many parallel bubbles even within a community. The whole machinery makes it so hard to leave a failing idea. When you have your neck on the line, you either delude yourself or others. No one should be held "this" accountable; all energy devices are *so* complex!
Material scientists also use the philosophers toolbox when navigating through ambiguity ๐ ๏ธ to decide which experiments will help obtain parameters that seem impossible to measure or isolate ๐ค
