@AdamWeidner3 @ndrew_lawrence Different types of unemployment. Many unemployed are not in poverty because they are seasonally unemployed or finding a new job. No i dont want people living in poverty and so for the people who r unemployed we give them welfare while they find a job
@aj_schweigert @ImPerfectionNC @PeterLangkamp @ndrew_lawrence I think u underestimate how much drug companies spend on research... look at JnJ, Cardinal Health, or Celgene. Not a bad idea for CDC to do research, but the R&D for these companies is basically 100% of the expenses for these companies. Billions of dollars.
@OatcakeEater@aj_schweigert @ImPerfectionNC @PeterLangkamp @ndrew_lawrence I never said it wasn’t. I think single payer healthcare is a great idea. Even one of the greatest capatilistic thinkers, Adam Smith, thought it was necessary.
@aj_schweigert @ImPerfectionNC @PeterLangkamp @ndrew_lawrence No way would that offset any of the tax increases. In your world, are you saying that the gov would control drug prices and prices of everything? Which the only way they can do that is through control of production? Let me know ur thoughts please.
@ndrew_lawrence Now with those laid out, imagine if 5% - 10% of the workforce now become govt employees which is a reasonable amount considering the huge benefits. How in the world will the US be able to pay the wages for those jobs?? We are getting less taxes now because they are govt employed.
@ndrew_lawrence “Government jobs garunteed for all” is terrible. Here’s some facts:
All government jobs are paid for by taxes.
All government employees receive massive benefits and pensions making them more costly.
Many government employees avoid paying taxes or receive many tax breaks.
Um...... u dont know what the fed is or what their plan is do u? Haha they raised rates like 3 times in the past 12 months and have 3 more rate hikes on the way by the end of 2018. There are many reasons to raise rates, but one is to keep inflation down, which keeps the $ up. https://t.co/bOKfZSR066
@LukeGromen hey Luke, just listened to the adventures in finance podcast u were on. Great stuff. I got a question for you on it: The U.S. will most likely do something to stop benefit spending in the future (i.e. raise taxes or decrease benefits) (1/2)
