Following the announcement of the @BMA_Consultants indicative ballot yesterday I talked to @trentconsultant about the background to the indicative ballot, next steps, why it matters to consultants and how you can get involved 🗣️

Great to have developed, and to be leading, today’s ’Organising for local action’ training day for BMA Midlands with @thomasdolphin
Covering local organising, campaigns and disputes as we build towards an ‘organising to win’ approach that empowers BMA members locally
🚨 FAO all @TheBMA members working at @uhbtrust 🚨
You will have received a ‘Survey - Pay rates for extra-contractual work’ email this evening
It contains an update, chronology of events since Monday last week and a survey that will take ~1 minute to complete - please do so
I met with @BMA_SAS and Locally Employed Doctors at @nhsuhcw this afternoon
Members are fully behind @TheBMA Local Negotiating Committee at UHCW as we pursue two claims on their behalf
Unfortunately negotiations on these matters are not progressing to members satisfaction 👇🏻🧵
"If an incoming government under Keir Starmer wants to continue lying, then strikes will have to continue."
Healthcare staff are the only workers who have not received pay restoration, says Dr @RobLaurensonD4P, on the first day another wave of junior doctors' strike.

It's encouraging to see @fbunational members sharing our concerns over the use of PAs & AAs in the NHS. Today we thank them for passing their motion, highlighting the impact of deskilling a public sector workforce where expertise in public safety is crucial.
Lovely speech from the new West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker thanking Andy Street for his service
Andy Street spoke beautifully too.
They both have such an obvious pride in their home.
Compare and contrast with Susan Hall in London 👀
@jburnmurdoch@FT@ONS@NHSDigital@NHSEngland@JCribbEcon@TheIFS@bankofengland@instituteforgov 27/ I need to state that I have only charted "junior" & consultant pay as they have the best data which are "official stats". SAS grade doctors (who voted 'no' to their deal) & GPs (yesterday voted 99% to reject their imposition) have seen similar, if not worse & are more complex
@jburnmurdoch@FT@ONS@NHSDigital@NHSEngland@JCribbEcon@TheIFS@bankofengland@instituteforgov 26/ And again like I did above with public satisfaction, lets take the medical satisfaction line (left; orange) and transpose it to the pay chart (right; black).
Its easy to see what is going on here. Deliberate destruction of pay causes destruction of service & satisfaction😔
@jburnmurdoch@FT@ONS@NHSDigital@NHSEngland@JCribbEcon@TheIFS@bankofengland@instituteforgov 25/ The official staff survey data report only went back to 2019 above, but I have trawled the data back to the start of austerity and its more *SHOCKING*
Pay satisfaction has fallen off a cliff, nonemoreso than for doctors = the largest falls since 2019 = recipe for MORE IA👇
