The protests started in May by NSUI and IYC before CJP was even created. Opposition led by Congress converted it to a movement by conducting regular rallies first in Kota and then Chhatron Ki Goonj in July. Protesters were constantly assaulted by police.

Understanding the gravity of the issue in hand and to dilute the momentum gained by the opposition, CJP was deployed. BJP would never want to concede to Congress led opposition, they know it'd lead to something that they can't control.

The brutal crackdown on students who were peacefully protesting and demanding accountability is deeply condemnable. Equally shocking is the reported manhandling of the Leader of the Opposition, Shri Rahul Gandhi ji, who sought to question this assault, along with the detention of Smt. Priyanka Gandhi ji and Shri Akhilesh Yadav ji.

Such treatment of the Leader of the Opposition in the world’s largest democracy is an affront to democratic norms and constitutional values. A government that responds to peaceful dissent with force instead of dialogue undermines the very foundations of our Republic.

We strongly condemn this repression and will continue to stand with the students and fight to protect our Constitution and democracy.

With DMK being a political orphan and ADMK being a fraction of what it was once, alliance between DMK & ADMK in 2029 is a possibility.

A TVK–Congress alliance in 2029, however, could emerge as a formidable political force and would be extremely difficult to challenge. Even a combined front comprising the DMK, AIADMK, AMMK, and VCK may struggle to match the electoral strength of a TVK–Congress partnership.
