Archbishop of York: “Don’t be a shouty campaigner on safeguarding – we don’t listen to the shouty people”
The Archbishop of York can choose to ignore me and others; but if the Church had listened. perhaps Justin Welby wouldn’t be standing down.

‘“People are still being harmed in the Church of England,” she says…She comes across as warm but firm – the kind of woman you would want in your corner.’
Ain’t that the truth!
@Jas_Sanghera_ is a force of nature. I’m so very proud to know her. https://t.co/i4ArD5u07k
Charity Commission responds to open letter on Church of England safeguarding fiasco
As the Charity Commission refuses to properly hold the Archbishops' Council to account, now is the time for a full public statutory inquiry.

Jasvinder Sanghera, sacked by the Archbishops' Council as its Independent Safeguarding Board's survivor advocate for advocating too well, is continuing to work with the ISB-11 - those victims and survivors the ISB were working with before it was scrapped.

And yet again, Elon Musk is trending in the UK. It's worth beginning by taking a step back and asking: what's really going on? Why does he launch so many attacks on the Starmer government? And... does he have a point? 🧵
@ChildCofe @NormanLeedsPhD @SewellMartin@cathynewman@JanetEastham@AndrewGraystone@SteveReevesUK @BishopNewcastle I am honoured by the suggestion. The real heroes are those who persevere, and those forced to give up the fight, after personally suffering the abuse and re-traumatisation of the Archbishops' Council.
Archbishop of York Stephen Cottrell’s “fine words” with no action
Stephen Cottrell, channelling the spirit of Eliza “Do Little” – Don't just talk about justice... Show us.
https://t.co/zJ5snl1dqw
Archbishop Stephen Cottrell also talked of the need not just to talk about justice and love but to "walk the talk".
I've told @CottrellStephen he speaks fine words while taking no action for a few years now.
Will he radically change his approach, or is this more empty words.
Because of the way victims and survivors of church-based abuse treated, I can no longer call it #MyChurchOfEngland.
I long for the day when the Archbishops' Council deals with safeguarding properly, so that news coverage can focus on the Good News of the Gospel of Christ.
For now, I wish everyone a very happy, peaceful and joy-filled Christmas.
And I sign off for now with one of my favourite (but theologically challenging) carols - critiqued by many for mansplaining in action.
