The reason I love track/cross country so much, is the camaraderie between opponents is so much more evident than any other sport.
In Saturday's 4A 800, @KeeleeLeitzen secured the win in 2:09.15 (a PR), narrowly edging Ani Wedemeyer of Pleasant Valley. But afterwards you can see Leitzen giving her water and a huge hug, while both enjoy the other's success.
The sportsmanship in T&F/XC is on display much more than any other sport imho.
Hempstead's Keelee Leitzen wins the 4A girls 800 for the 2nd straight year, in 2:09.15. No. 10 all-time in Iowa. Leitzen now has 13 career medals at the Iowa state meet. #iahstrk
Fellow Mustang senior Julia Gehl took 4th (2:14.33)
What a day. What a week. What a meet. T&F athletes are so resilient. All they want is a chance. Today was unbelievable. A 3 hour delay and they literally came back better than ever. I love this sport and I love the @DrakeRelays
