@pinstripedline Captain William (later Admiral Sir William) Pakenham was aboard the battleship Asahi. A Russian shell exploded near him, killing some Japanese sailors and covering him in blood. He immediately went below and returned shortly in a new, pristine white uniform.

@LawDeanHolloway @cdnnavylady Ships will have to have a robust plan to rotate people through departments and employ them as effectively as possible. Doing husbandry and watch on deck for a year won't give you much of a take up rate.

@NorthernMatelot I think one of the reasons they were abolished was the proliferation of branches, and they didn't want to stick the whole bunch under special branch green. That being said, I'm all for it.
