MPUMALANGA POLICE ARREST SUSPECT FOR POSSESSION OF ILLICIT CIGARETTES WORTH R1.9 MILLION

Acornhoek police in Mpumalanga have arrested a 45-year-old man for possession of illicit cigarettes with an estimated street value of R1.9 million.

The arrest followed information received by police about a truck allegedly transporting illicit goods from Musina to White River.

A multidisciplinary team intercepted the truck and conducted a search. During the search, a large quantity of suspected illicit cigarettes was discovered and seized.

The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear before a Magistrate’s Court soon on charges relating to the possession of illicit cigarettes.
