Millennials. The 2008 Financial Crisis hit them at 18. COVID hit them at 30. Student debt followed them everywhere in between. Constant comparison through Instagram and TikTok did the rest. The result: one of the most burned-out generations in modern history. So priorities shifted. Walking, puzzles, slow hobbies, time offline - these aren't signs of failure. They're how a nervous system recovers from decades of damage. Success used to mean titles, status and 60-hour weeks. Now it means freedom, time and a mind that isn't on fire. Ambition didn't disappear - it redirected. Toward lives that don't require escaping every Friday night. The real flex isn't busyness. It's building something sustainable enough that you never need a vacation from your own life.

Some people are dead inside. They wake up because they're supposed to, they eat because it's expected. They say 'I'm fine' because anything deeper would require a pulse they no longer feel. They are neither happy nor sad, just empty in a way that's hard to explain without scaring people.
It's not that they want to die; it's just that living has lost its flavor. Every day is a loop of pretending and surviving, and they are so deeply tired of carrying a heart that forgot how to beat and a body that no longer feels..
Telling people with severe #depression to exercise because exercise is good for recovery from depression is fine. But clearly people giving out such advice have not experienced severe depression. Severe depression brings with it physical disability and complete lack of muscular strength.
One needs to first walk before one can run. Similarly, exercise is possible only when depressive symptoms reduce a bit.
That said, if you have depression of any level of severity, if you can just move a little, please do try to do that. If not, you're not a failure - if you survived today, that's enough. And then, tomorrow is another day! ๐ธ๐ซ
