The Arsenal rage bait is in full swing again I see, chipping at Rice and Saka again and watering down our performance yesterday with ‘Bayern had players out and they didn’t look the same team’ narrative. Forgetting that Arsenal had 3 first team players out and lost one after 10 mins.
Love it!
Seeing so much disinformation about the Man City case timeline. Especially from Talksport and its stooges.
No-one outside the parties and independent judiciary knows the timeline because there are multiple processes and flexibility in how they are carried out.
This is my hypothesis…
1) Man City launched Section X arbitration against the Commission and Appeal Board’s determination that the decision was a publishable “Final Award”.
I suspect they will ask the Section X panel to postpone a sanctions hearing until after the appeal of the decision.
And although I actually agree with City that the decision shouldn’t have been labelled a final award, I also suspect they will / have already lost. The rules are not in City’s favour and the bar is far too high for them to get a Section X panel to intervene.
This is a dead end. Hopefully it’s already done.
2) The Independent Commission won’t wait for the Appeal Board when it comes to sanctioning.
They have no reason to delay and they’ll be doing Man City no favours after the club tried to con them with a fake defence.
I suspect we’ll hear sanctions in the November Intl Break. Any truly irreversible sanctions (such as match suspension or recommended expulsion) will be deferred until post-appeal. But a major points deduction will be applied immediately, especially given both precedent and the reality is it will stop City trying to delay the Appeal.
I believe the sanctions will be issued before the appeal commences and will be rolled into it (so they’re appealing the decision and the sanctions, per normal)
3) The Appeal timeline will be varied from the standard timelines but with City on negative points, they’ll have no cause to delay it and we’ll hear an outcome before the end of the season.
4) Man City might seek a Section X appeal after that (we wouldn’t know) but all sanctions other than a recommendation to expel won’t be deferred further. They’ll take hold right after the appeal.
5) The PL will then charge Man City with another 100+ charges for 2018/19-2024/25 and offer them a settlement (which will likely involve the UAE selling up and the existing APTs taking a major haircut).
Again - the above is all just a hypothesis. The actual way forward is not public. But now folks don’t need to ask me what I think anymore.
On Thursday 29th October, I’ll be joined by top Arsenal reporters @charles_watts and @sr_collings at The Gunners Pub for a book signing and a live Q&A session about all things #AFC. It’ll be a fun night. Join us!

𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩 1 - 𝘼 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙪𝙧
I am in the process of drafting a detailed article laying out why the Independent Commission was always going to refute Man City’s “irrefutable evidence” and deem it a concoction of lies and forged documents… and why the Appeal Board will do so too. It will take some time to put together though.
But what might surprise most people is that even if it had succeeded in deceiving the panel members… Man City’s defence would have still failed!
𝙈𝙖𝙣 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮’𝙨 “𝙞𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚” 𝘾𝙊𝙐𝙇𝘿 𝙉𝙊𝙏 𝙖𝙗𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙨!
Even if they had successfully fooled the Independent Commission members into believing it were true, they would have still been in breach of all the same rules and subject to major sanctions. What’s more, the “irrefutable evidence” would actually guarantee that they must be charged with a further 100+ breaches for the 2018/19-2024/25 seasons too.
I explain exactly how this is the case in the thread below… but the implication should get people questioning why they even presented this concocted evidence if it was always doomed to fail.
When people try to analyse Man City’s actions they often forget that the people in charge are the rulers of the UAE. Money is not important to them - they do not act commercially - only power and influence matter. They are quite literally above the law at home and believe this should apply to them and their endeavours everywhere else. The most important thing to them is their reputation on the world stage. It’s why they bought Man City and spent so much on it.
Their “irrefutable evidence” is nothing more than the desperate death throes of the UAE’s collapsing reputation. They will do anything they can to try and spin the narrative into one where they’ve done nothing wrong and it’s only a biased, racist cartel of clubs, the Premier League Board and Independent Commission members that are conspiring against them.
It’s an insult to anyone with rudimentary intelligence and critical thinking skills.
I will produce Part 2 of this analysis in the coming days, which will showcase why their “irrefutable evidence” is so obviously fake.
This thread will focus solely on showing why it wouldn’t have absolved them of the charges even if it had worked… 🧵
🚨 Arsène Wenger on the advantages PSG hold over other teams in the Champions League:
🗣️ Arsène Wenger: “There is a structural problem here that people do not want to discuss properly. PSG can postpone Ligue 1 matches when it suits them. They can move a domestic fixture to protect their players for the Champions League, arrive fully fit, fully prepared, and then play a team that has just come through a full Premier League weekend with no such option.
“That is not squad management. That is a competitive advantage the other clubs do not have. In England, in Spain, in Germany, the league schedule is fixed. You play when you are told. You cannot ring the league and ask them to move the game because you have a Champions League match four days later. PSG can. And they use it.
“Add to that the level of the domestic competition. When the gap between first and the rest is so large, you can rest half your team, protect key players from fatigue and injury, and still win the league comfortably. The others cannot do the same. They have to play their best players every week just to stay in the race. Then they meet PSG in Europe and the French side have fresher legs, fewer minutes in their legs, and a better recovery window.
“I managed in the Premier League for many years. I know what it costs to compete on both fronts with no flexibility in the calendar. The physical and mental load is different. When one club can choose when it plays its league games and the others cannot, the Champions League is no longer being contested on equal terms.
“People will say every big club rotates. That is true. But rotation is one thing. The ability to postpone a league match so your entire squad is fresh for Europe is another. That is an advantage the rules of the competition allow, and it is an advantage that makes the path easier for one team than for the others. If we want a fair Champions League, these differences have to be addressed. Otherwise we are simply watching some teams play under different conditions than the rest.”

Watching the abuse @sportingintel has faced for his reporting on #ManCity - then and now - has been appalling.
In ‘24, we honoured him with the Play the Game Award for his “proper, excellent and bulletproof journalism.”
He has never backed down. Sadly, neither have the abusers.
