Google’s new Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image) model is the new #1 Image Generation and Image Editing model in the Artificial Analysis Image Arena!
Google’s Nano Banana Pro improves performance over Nano Banana but will not be a replacement for all users given its premium pricing. Google has highlighted in their announcement improvement of “reasoning and real-world knowledge” capabilities and is likely to excel particularly in use-cases that leverage these.
Key takeaways:
➤ Premium pricing: Nano Banana Pro’s API is priced at ~$0.139 per 2K image and $0.24 per 4K image - approximately 3-6x more expensive than the original Nano Banana. The model is likely larger (or more steps in their system) compared to the original release to improve reasoning/knowledge capabilities and the price increase may be driven by this
➤ Multi-image input: Nano Banana Pro supports up to 14 input images “maintaining the consistency and resemblance of up to 5 people”. This is something Google has innovated on across their image and video models and will support higher fidelity image editing/creation
➤ Availability: The model is available via the Gemini app, Gemini API, Google AI Studio and Vertex AI. Google is also rolling it out to other Google products including Google Workspace (Slides, Vids) and Google Ads
