Kobe is a 5x NBA Champion.

Tom Brady is a 7x Superbowl Champion.
He also holds the record for most passes intercepted in Superbowl history.

Serena Williams is a 23x Gram Slam Champion.

These aren't contradictions, they are proof of what it takes to win at the highest levels.

Winners don't succeed in spite of failure, they succeed because of failure. While others shield themselves from the sting of defeat, winners run towards it. They take big risks and put their reputation on the line, knowing that whatever happens, they'll come out a more competent opponent on the other side.

Whether you're chasing championships or personal goals, the same truth applies. To double your rate of success, you have to double your rate of failure. The more you learn about what doesn't work, the more you understand what does.

Everything changes when you reframe losses like this. It's not a setback, it's one step closer. It's not a measure of incompetence, it's proof of your willingness to take risks and charge boldy forwards.

Failure isn't the enemy of success, it's the foundation.

People loved Winston Churchill because he didn’t stop. One of the most relentless leaders I’ve ever read about.

The person who carefully designs their daily routine goes further than the person who negotiates with themselves every day.

Let inertia work for you.

[Arjun Khemani @arjunkhemani]

.@naval: First of all, I don't think of myself. I just want to be clear on that. And that's not a rule. It's just a habit I've kind of developed because I found that thinking about yourself is a source of all unhappiness and misery.

Self obsession is the root of all unhappiness.

What did Buddha do? Conquer the self. What does that mean? Means that he saw through the illusion of the separate self.

Did Buddha think about himself? Not for an instant. Anyone that you think of as an enlightened being does not think about themselves for an instant.

The happiest people in life when people are at their best is because they love something more than they love themselves. They love their children, they love God, they love their mission, what have you.

And all misery comes from rumination, from sitting around, being depressed, going in circles in your own head about me, me, me, me, me. Me is a disease.

And you need a concept of a me to be effective and to keep track of things. You have a memory, you have certain predilections, you have personality patterns. But the more you self obsess, the less happy you're going to be. I guarantee you that.

Play the long game.

It can take years to build a startup.

It can take years to find customers.

Many quit during this time cause it’s hard.

So when you get here remember that.

Then keep going and keep building.
