I had a great time reading all the posters at #RSCPoster 2022! It was great to see all the amazing research being done all over the world! Thanks heaps to the organisers and the team at @RoySocChem for putting this event on!

@KatRWright@PhysicsMagazine Oh I forgot to say, I think the way this poster comp is run makes it easy for me to be apart of this event, particularly as NZ's time zone is so different to may others who will be participating in this event and interested in seeing all the posters.
@KatRWright Yes I have just joined twitter for this event. I am not much of a social media person, but I see how twitter is a very powerful and importantly a very positive tool for getting to learn about cool research and amazing researchers from every part of the globe!
@KatRWright@PhysicsMagazine This is still the case in New Zealand where at present we cannot travel to conferences as of yet, even domestically due to covid restrictions. So this event is a great way to practise those communication skills that are vital in research! 3/3

@KatRWright@EdGardner_ His group has created other metal nanoparticles that can contain for example 55±1, 147±3, and 309±6 atoms, so very precise numbers of atoms! The work his group is doing could be a possible step in making precisely small Cu nanoparticles! 6/6
@KatRWright@EdGardner_ We have collaborated with Richard Palmer of the University of Swansea (https://t.co/Tsa5vZAHej) who creates nanoparticles as very selected sizes without the need of solvents, which is really cool! 5/6
@KatRWright@EdGardner_ will often contain very interesting surface properties that are not seen in larger nanoparticles (in the tens of thousands) that can have surface feature more like in sheets of metal. 4/6
@KatRWright@EdGardner_ It is a big challenge experimentally to fine tune the size of your Cu nanoparticle to specific sizes such as those we studied in this poster. We were very interesting in the properties of Cu nanoparticle with tens to hundreds of atoms as these nanoparticles 3/6
@KatRWright@EdGardner_ However, I am not sure of group who are creating Cu nanoparticle of these sizes, particularly containing just tens to hundreds of Cu atoms. @EdGardner_ We currently have a new PhD student who will be looking to see how this competitive H2 reaction is catalysed by these Cu nanoparticles. It will be interesting to see what he finds! 5/5
