This tribute from his sister, Sara Weaver, captures the heart of a 14-year-old boy who loved God, his family, his dog Striker, the outdoors.

Just one day later, their mother, Vicki Weaver, was killed by an FBI sniper. She was standing in the doorway of their cabin, holding her 10-month-old baby daughter in her arms, when the shot was fired.

Sara lost her little brother and her mother within 24 hours at Ruby Ridge.

Sara wrote:

Favorite color: Red
Favorite candy: Lemonheads

Loved: God, me, his family, his dog Striker, hiking, biking, fishing, planting radishes, building forts, history, ships, building model tanks, fixing anything of mine that broke and being right. Every time we had an argument… he won. 😊

Hated: Being called “Sammy”. Cheese. The fact he only weighed 80 lbs at age 14. Crying when he was super mad.

Sam desperately tried to defend his dog, a big yellow lab named Striker who was shot in the spine right in front of him yelping in agony. Shot by grown men hiding in the woods. Men he was completely unaware of, until it was too late.

His last words:
“You shot my dog you son of a bit*hes!”

And:
“I’m coming dad!”

Died: Shot twice in the back running away towards his dad and his home.

And I love you forever little brother ❤️
