While I was at the Eisenhower Memorial dedication in Washington, D.C. last week, all I could think of was "what the hell happened to our nation?" Not Trump, but our nation.....I am puzzled by the decline in basic decency among so many. And does "decline" means "the fall" nears?
I have a sign in my office - PERSEVERANCE . It first when up while a grad student in the late 1960s. It is what it takes - to get a Ph.D. and to live by your words for six decades.
@RachelBrougham What is your cool dog? Is the dog new, or old? Big or small? It took us years to replace our young and cool little dog who was killed by a car with a new old BIG dog that we doubt will ever be cool. But, we are no longer dogless....and that is cool.
During Enbridge's rock and soil sampling expedition in the Straits of Mackinac, part of a drill rod became lodged in the lakebed. Enbridge waited two months — until the sampling work was done — to tell anyone. https://t.co/R8VICQjcjF

@hwbrands What a nice blurb. Let me know when you are coming this way (Great Lakes region). I hope to be in Austin for the annual gathering of the National Council for Social Studies. But, TBD. Much running around here, too. "Hero" is previewing nicely - PA, MI, CA so far. GEORGE
YOUNG HEMINGWAY & HIS ENDURING EDEN will screen at the Bay Theatre, Suttons Bay, on Sunday and Monday, Nov. 2 and 3.
On Sunday the 2nd, the doors open at 4 for a 430 p.m. presentation by Christopher Struble, President of Michigan Hemingway Society, and producer George Colburn
Very pleased to announce that my new documentary about young Ernie Hemingway's summers in Michigan, "Young Hemingway & His Enduring Eden," will be in a new 4-part series called MICHIGAN MAVERICKS coming to the Bay Community Theatre in Suttons Bay on Nov. 3-4.
Summer is still Hemingway Time "up north" - and fun is what Hemingway was looking for when he went to Horton Bay.
Check out the young Hemingway celebration at the General Store starting at 5 p.m. in the General Store. Red Fox Inn will be open, too. "Young Hemingway" film @ 7.
If you live in northern Michigan and have cable TV service from SPECTRUM, you can find C-Span at Channel 998. Its Book TV channel is 997. Its third channel is 996, American History TV @cspanhistory, where my interest is. Yes, it is almost off the chart. Its ID name is CPN3H.
Finally discovered where C-Span resides on SPECTRUM. Our provider is NOT doing viewers any favors in finding our programming on the Navajo Code Talkers (Saturdays, 2 p.m. EDT). Go to Channel 996. This is the C-Span's American History Channel on weekends @cspanhistory.
It won't take your mind off all that bad stuff out there, but I thought a couple minutes of northern Michigan might be a decent break.

Time marches on. Showing a preview rough edit of my 10th and final film on Dwight D. Eisenhower on Oct. 7 in Washington, DC, to veterans of Ike's Supreme Headquarters team, 1943 - 45. A great honor for me. Only a few remain.
