Said this to someone else, the Trae young era didn’t flop because he’s too small and a poor defender (although that is why it ended) it flopped because 3 lottery picks didn’t develop. Now hawks twitter can’t draft a point guard because hunter and reddish aren’t good

@GeorgeFoster72 @itis_dom @marbythegreat If a big guard has the same skills as a small guard, I would 100% go with the bigger guy, but every year teams default to the bigger guy, or, even worse, invent reasons why a mediocre big player should be picked over the guard who’s clearly better but “too small”

@KLChouinard The truth about okongwu isn’t that he’s too small. It’s that he’s too small to not be better attacking the basket. He’s a good shooter, a good passer and an ok rebounder. But he’s not gonna punish you with 30 points for putting a slow big on him. Great in the right situation tho

And that drafting big guards, “long” wings, and centers with potential, which NBA teams always do, works and fails as much as drafting or building around small guards.
