@BeckyHammon doesn’t have to “take an l”, admit to anything, or apologize for her take. She gave sound, expert analysis. If something happens and she wasn’t 100% right, that doesn’t make podcasters, hot take guys, or twitter trolls any smarter by trying to call her out
@PodThorn If they draft Mara at 6, their entire front office should be ridden out on a rail (which actually should have happened after last year’s draft
Said this to someone else, the Trae young era didn’t flop because he’s too small and a poor defender (although that is why it ended) it flopped because 3 lottery picks didn’t develop. Now hawks twitter can’t draft a point guard because hunter and reddish aren’t good
@GeorgeFoster72@itis_dom@marbythegreat If a big guard has the same skills as a small guard, I would 100% go with the bigger guy, but every year teams default to the bigger guy, or, even worse, invent reasons why a mediocre big player should be picked over the guard who’s clearly better but “too small”
@GeorgeFoster72@itis_dom@marbythegreat I agree with the 2nd part of what you said. But what part of what I said isn’t true? The hawks are a perfect example of my point. Trae young was/is flawed, but what limited the franchise was the failure of the two long-armed lottery picks drafted after him.
@KLChouinard The truth about okongwu isn’t that he’s too small. It’s that he’s too small to not be better attacking the basket. He’s a good shooter, a good passer and an ok rebounder. But he’s not gonna punish you with 30 points for putting a slow big on him. Great in the right situation tho
@itis_dom@GeorgeFoster72@marbythegreat What I’m saying, without calling your take stupid, is that top 5/10 players, like Brunson, are special. And that drafting big guards, “long” wings, and centers with potential, which NBA teams always do, works and fails as much as drafting or building around small guards.
@itis_dom@GeorgeFoster72@marbythegreat Okc - outlier 6’5” guard, all-nba wing and depth
Bos 2 all-nba wings and depth
Den - outlier center and depth
GS - outlier small guard and hall of fame roster.
Bucks - literal unicorn
Lakers - goat and all-nba forward. In the nba, no one wins, but outliers
Of okongwu, kuminga, Risacher, and kispert ($55 million) and even #8 and future picks to get a stud wing scorer and pay fkr a free agent center (Kessler or Williams)
The hawks built a talented roster last summer. They established, after a rocky start, and a major trade, that they could consistently beat the bad teams, but weren’t really competitive against playoff rosters. They were looked exactly like the 46 win team they were. The wins and
Be a mistake. He won’t be solving the problem in the playoffs in the next 2 years. Therefore, my draft formula, if you’re sticking with the position you’re in, would be Mikel brown at 8 and quaintance or cenac at 23. If the choice is to make moves, I’d be ready to move any combo
