This guy is getting huge backlash, and rightly so.
But everyone saying companies shouldn’t ask for previous CTC needs to touch base with reality. Most prominent companies still ask for previous CTC and payslips, then try to downplay your hike despite having the budget.
That’s the Indian tech scene, and I don’t see it changing anytime soon.
Interviewed a candidate for a techie opening yesterday. CTC for the candidate with 4 years experience in current company is 7.2 LPA. Asked what the expectation was.
Candidate says 16 lakh. I said that's more than double current CTC. Candidate says yes that's what I want. Conversation ended soon after.
