Our young people are our greatest opportunity as drivers of change, defenders of sovereignty, and partners in building a prosperous nation. Today’s youth are turning the page on division, conflict, and poverty, and writing a new chapter of Ethiopia’s history with courage, unity, and purpose.
The Medemer Government remains committed to empowering young Ethiopians and strengthening their role as leaders.
Let us move forward together with love, unity, and a shared national vision. 🇪🇹
Developed under the Medemer Government, Friendship Park is a vibrant hub where families, creators, and visitors converge. It has generated nearly 1 Billion Birr in just 4 years. Beyond the numbers, it’s a sanctuary for health, recreation, and community.
It is the ultimate blueprint for Addis Ababa’s future: spaces that create opportunity, generate value, and, above all, belong to everyone.
Today, we proudly inaugurate the new terminal at the Bahir Dar Dejazmach Belay Zeleke International Airport Terminal—a significant milestone for one of Ethiopia’s most important gateways. This project represents more than a modern terminal. Following the challenges Bahir Dar has experienced in the very recent past, it is a testament to resilience, recovery, and continued investment in the future.
The new terminal significantly enhances the airport’s capacity and passenger experience, supported by expanded aircraft facilities, upgraded infrastructure, improved access roads, and modern amenities designed to serve the region’s growing needs. Together with the urban transformation shaping the city, the new terminal positions Bahir Dar as another key hub for both international and domestic flights. It is my hope that the local community continues to safeguard its peace to reap the economic rewards of what a vibrant city like Bahir Dar offers.

Eight years of consistent action. The Green Legacy Initiative continues to grow stronger, driven by public commitment and the shared belief that, together, Ethiopians can nurture a greener, more sustainable future. Today marks our annual nationwide one-day planting effort which is a moment when Ethiopians from all walks of life come together to create a lasting legacy for generations to come.
Alongside First Lady Zinash Tayachew and the COP32 National Steering Commitee, we have planted our contribution and added our mark to this collective journey. We call on all Ethiopians across the country to continue their efforts throughout the day as we work together to achieve our ambitious target of 800 million seedlings planted.
It was a pleasure to speak with H.E. Mrs. @Speaker_Az , Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. We engaged in productive discussions on strengthening our bilateral relations, building on a shared commitment to a deeper strategic partnership and mutual growth.
Only 5 days remain to make history through the united arm of all Ethiopians by planting 800 million seedlings in a single day! In these remaining days, I call upon my beloved fellow citizens to make the necessary preparations, rise with determination, and ensure the victory we will achieve in our unity.
Together, let us plant hope!

Met with the President of AfriExim Bank, Dr. @GeorgeElombi and the esteemed Board of Directors of the Bank this evening. I appreciated the discussions on partnership, growth, and opportunities for Africa’s future.
Pleased to welcome EU High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy @kajakallas , for a productive meeting today. Our discussions centered on key priority areas of mutual interest, focusing on the strengthening of EU-Africa relations. We also addressed pertinent regional issues of concern and explored strategic pathways to further advance and expand economic cooperation.
It is with great pride that I join you today at the opening ceremony of this historic National Dialogue. This grand conference, which will bring together four thousand participants under one roof in the coming weeks, marks a historic opportunity for Ethiopia to obtain the “pen and parchment” with which to write a new chapter of its history by its own hand.
We are at a moment when we can break the cycle in Ethiopia’s political journey. A cycle that begins with inflammatory rhetoric and ends in violent action, and replace it with dialogue and discussion. I extend my sincere gratitude to the commissioners of the National Dialogue Commission for their invaluable contributions toward making this important undertaking possible.
This conference, which is founded on a bottom-up agenda-setting process involving hundreds of thousands of citizens, is a rare and remarkable event with immense significance in Ethiopia’s modern history. Through it, we have the opportunity to transform our challenges into opportunities and establish a lasting culture of peaceful transfers of power.
Today, we are planting good seeds that will benefit future generations, and we are ensuring that our children will enjoy the fruits they bear. As we participate in this dialogue, if we set aside our local interests and deliberate for the sake of Ethiopia, keeping our children and their future in mind, the outcome will be truly fruitful.
Together, let us cultivate hope, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence. By resolving our differences through dialogue and reconciliation within our own country, let us safeguard Ethiopia from external interference. I call upon all participants to achieve a historic outcome; one that will benefit Ethiopia, serve as an example for Africa, and bring genuine peace and relief to all Ethiopians.
May Ethiopia forever prosper and be honored through the efforts of her children!
