I really do believe Andy Burnham will call a general election in the next few weeks.
The right seriously needs to get its act together, or we’re heading for an eternity of socialist doom.
A big no to @yonder for me - they lowered my credit limit just for the crime of using my card overseas for a sustained period to make the most of the FX-free fees. Clearly that came at a cost to the business so they slashed my limit despite my credit score going ever upwards! 🤷♂️
There is no collapse in Saudi Arabia. The ‘potential’ food crisis is due to
intel of a plan by Russia to invade the Baltic’s or Poland in a last-gasp attempt to provide Kaliningrad with energy and food (since cut off by Lithuania).
Russia war on NATO ≠ WW3 = Food Crisis
Countries have now openly started warning people about an inevitable deadly food crisis.
Saudi's collapse will most likely starve millions of people around the world in the coming years.
The UK's National Audit Office has told ministers that civilians in the UK must prepare for astronomical food shortages soon.
Bangladesh has asked India for assured annual quotas of rice, wheat and onions.
Indonesia's agriculture minister has told citizens that rice stocks are safe for only 10 months.
Thousands have already started starving in Kenya, Somalia and Afghanistan.
Egypt has imposed a 9 PM weekday closing time for shops and restaurants.
Slovenia has become the first EU country to cap private motorists at 50 litres per purchase.
Russia and Kazakhstan have banned fuel exports to protect their people from the upcoming food crisis.
Violent protests in front of the homes of presidents and prime ministers have already started in many countries.
Ansar Allah has promised retaliatory strikes against Saud in the next 48 hours.
More energy sites could be wiped out.
And Saudi just announced that they won't be selling any crude oil to Europe for the next month.
Most likely they won't be able to sell for many more months.
Governments may soon have no choice but to limit food purchases for families.
Let's say families eat beyond the limit imposed by governments.
This will most likely land people in jail in the coming years.
Iran has announced that the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened until Trump is removed from the presidency.
The Bab el Mandeb and the surrounding islands could also remain shut down for years for Saudi.
The whole world is heading towards a destructive humanitarian crisis.
Look at this image of one of the Twin Towers under the construction. Look at the core structure carefully. Under no circumstances this structure could completely collapse under the weight of a small section of the building collapsing, nor could it ever collapse due to fire.
While the exterior framed-tube (236 closely spaced perimeter columns) resisted lateral wind loads, the core worked in tandem with the exterior shell to support vertical gravity loads, allowing for the signature open, column-free floor plans.
The core columns and internal structures were protected by sprayed-on fire-resistant material and enclosed in two-inch thick gypsum board panels to maintain structural integrity during fires.
It seems as though @Burberry ‘s unfortunate association with chavs and football casuals continues , despite the best efforts of the firm to lure back their original upwardly mobile client base.
We would like to remind supporters travelling to Maidstone United that burberry items and balaclavas are prohibited items at The Gallagher Stadium ❌
You will be denied entry if wearing these items 🎟️
U18s must also be accompanied by an Adult 1-to-1, otherwise they will not be allowed entry this afternoon 🤝
Did she also not rent out an @Airbnb@AirbnbHelp property through a London council (if unknowingly)? If so, she is living proof that being a landlord and a short-let host are a zero sum game without due diligence.
@thepiggyfish@BastieVelo@metpoliceuk A number of individuals who worked in traffic or were in the Met RTPC - they made clear to @TfL and CPOS that vision-zero initiatives and ULEZ were doomed to fail because the situation has steadily spiralled out of control, and year-on-road fatalities continue to increase.
@BastieVelo Like I said, he’s in a city where @metpoliceuk have told me in person that 30% of all drivers are assumed either not have a valid licence or MOT, insurance or tax for their vehicle and are driving under the influence. So he’s far from alone in this endeavour.
He’s not the only one who does this - the pro-active concealment and discarding of VRM markers is widespread since the introduction of ULEZ. My girlfriend’s communal garden in West London was often strewn with white and yellow plates!
The driver of this expensive Mercedes covered his license plate (WG25 VKT ) up to drive through the Railton LTN from Loughborough Jct to where he seems to live on Dulwich Road. 1/2
NETANYAHU PUTS ALL OF EUROPE ON NOTICE for not joining the war on Iran.
“Israel will not forget what you did to us in the holocaust.”
Remember the leadership of Israel sees Europe, the United States and the west in general as the new Rome that must pay for the destruction of the temple in 70 AD…
The bond markets are in free fall because of Donald Trump’s misadventures in Iran and the fear of Russian moves into the Baltic (or further expansion of the war in Ukraine).
This is all outside of Burnham’s scope and a Conservative PM would equally suffer.
Till today, Andy Burnham has been a lucky and deft Labour leader and prime minister. But is his luck running out? Or rather, is reality catching up with him?
Because he has just been hit by a fiscal juggernaut and he has been grazed by a drive-by political shooting.
The fiscal or debt assault originates from the inflation stoked by Trump’s war against Iran. Fears that the oil price and inflation will be higher for longer has seen the price of government debt falling across the world, but - as has become the norm - the fall for the UK is worse than for competitor nations.
And the corollary is that the interest rate the UK government pays to service £3 trillion pound of debt is rising more than elsewhere.
As we speak, the interest rate for HM Treasury on borrowing for ten years - the 10 year gilt yield - is 5.22%, a rise of 0.16% just this morning. Ouch.
The UK is vulnerable for familiar political reasons. Since Liz Truss’s mini budget debacle, successive chancellors have talked the talk of prudential debt stewardship, but creditors tend to pay more attention to unfunded promises to increase defence spending or make social care fit for purpose.
So Andy Burnham will do his thing later today of trying to be sunny and hopeful, but if he promises anything that investors see as costing real money - like taking state control of the utilities in the way he has hinted - he’ll find interest rates moving against him even more.
As for the political hit job, that’s a case of revenge served up cold by the Labour leader he assassinated, Keir Starmer.
The announcement by Starmer he is standing down as MP for Holborn & St Pancras was exquisitely timed to overshadow Burnham’s big first day as PM in parliament.
And it will precipitate a by-election soap opera that will distract the PM from the economic and political imperatives - such as devising a strangely absent plan to revive economic growth.
If the Green leader Zack Polanski runs, the Labour candidate would not be the shoo-in that he or she would be in other circumstances.
Labour would probably win, but it would be a contest that shines a light on the many fraught issues that divide the party, from whether to impose more sanctions on Israel to whether to allow more drilling in the North Sea.
So although Burnham is plainly relishing the job of PM he always coveted, today for the first time perhaps he will be aware that - to rework Spider-Man’s Uncle Ben - with great power comes a lorry load of impossible choices.
The driver should at the very least be disciplined or given a warning as this is clear disability discrimination - why did she also not ask to speak to her garage or bus control at @TfL for assistance? @Abellio_UK
@BBCNews No mention of the chronic shortage of gas due to Donald Trump’s war on Iran, which has seen the destruction of the South Pars gas field in Iran? Nor the ever-present greed of private companies demanding more money from consumers (with the possible exception of @OctopusEnergy)
