I don’t think you ever really rest when you live like this.

You sleep because your body finally gives up, but your mind keeps going. You wake up tired, already thinking about what needs to be found, paid for, fixed, or somehow survived that day. After a while, sleeping badly becomes normal. Being exhausted becomes normal. You almost forget what it felt like to wake up without fear waiting for you.

I think about the person I was before all of this. I had things I enjoyed. I had hobbies. I wasted time sometimes. I could sit with friends without thinking about what we would eat tomorrow. I could make plans that were more than a few days ahead.

Now there is no leisure. No real rest. No space in my mind for anything that isn’t survival.

Sometimes I wonder if I will ever feel like myself again, or if this version of me — tired, worried, always calculating what comes next — is who I have become.

⚡️ Two US Activists Being Held in Israeli Prison After Challenging Forced Displacement in West Bank

Irene Cho of New York and Trudi Frost of Boston, are being held in Israeli custody after being arrested on Dec. 12 at the home of the Abu Hamam family in the West Bank village of al-Mughayyer.

They were standing in solidarity against forced displacement, according to Palestine News Network and the International Solidarity Movement, when Israeli soldiers and border police raided the home and imposed a month-long “closed military zone” order, telling residents that solidarity activists were forbidden because they “cause trouble.”

Authorities revoked the activists’ permits through a summary procedure, denied timely access to lawyers, refused to review evidence showing the arrest was unlawful, and transferred them to Givon prison near Ramla. Their lawyers say the detention exceeded legal time limits and that maps show the military order did not cover the family’s home.

This follows a week of coordinated settler and military attacks that injured Palestinians and foreign nationals and saw settlers dismantle Palestinian structures under army protection, ISM said. Cho and Frost are refusing deportation as their lawyers challenge the order, while illegal Israeli settlers continue to operate freely near the home as Israel intensifies efforts to forcibly displace the family.

U.S. defense firm Anduril has announced a joint venture with a state-run Emirati weapons conglomerate whose arms have been repeatedly linked to atrocities in Sudan, including the RSF’s genocidal campaign in Darfur, The Intercept reports.

The partnership will focus on autonomous weapons systems, including Anduril’s “Omen” drone, with the UAE set to purchase the first batch. Human rights researchers and arms experts warn the deal is deeply contradictory to Anduril’s stated mission of “defending democracy,” given UAE’s authoritarian regime and its role in supplying the RSF with drones, armored vehicles, and munitions used in mass killings, sexual violence, and forced displacement.

Sudan Doctors Network: Unknown Fate for Dozens of Families and Children in Babanusa

The Network is closely monitoring, with concern, the field developments in the city of Babanusa, which has witnessed violent clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces. These clashes threaten the fate of dozens of children and women who had previously sought refuge at the command of the army division after the Rapid Support Forces overran the city more than a year ago. Videos published by members of the Rapid Support Forces appeared to show the moment they filmed a large number of women and children who had been sheltering in the buildings of the 22nd Division in Babanusa, where the families appeared in a dire humanitarian situation.

The Network calls for ensuring their safety, protecting them, and transferring them to a safe location without harming them or detaining them arbitrarily on accusations of having relatives in the army. We also call for the opening of safe corridors to evacuate them and to provide them with humanitarian assistance.

The Network urges the international community to fully assume its responsibilities toward civilians and victims of the war inside Babanusa, to provide necessary humanitarian support to the affected, and to pressure the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces to evacuate the families to areas far from the clashes and to provide adequate care to ensure their safety.
