Years ago, I had a sales rep who couldn’t travel for work because husband. Severely limited her growth in the company.

Personally I think there’s too much gaslighting in the rebuttals. There’s a big difference between couples submitting to each other and obeying their partner’s wishes and deprioritizing the wife’s autonomy.

For example, couples are accountable to each other and should have a consensus on decisions taken by either of them. Be it outings, career, etc.
That’s not the problem.

The problem lies where when there’s no consensus and the wife is COMPELLED to obey with the husband’s decision otherwise there would be damaging consequences, whereas if the man disobeys the wife would be upset but they’ll be fine.

This is the big distinction.

If that rep of mine had travelled for work without her husband’s permission, she might not have a marriage to come home to, might be name called, family meeting, drama, etc. He’d probably even refuse cover house responsibilities while she’s away. And this affects her career and autonomy as a human being.
If her husband did the same, she’d be upset but asked to forgive and manage.

That’s what women are protesting.
