"Groypers" won't read Leo Strauss because he was a Jew. That is retarded. Strauss was perhaps the preeminent commentator on the history of political philosophy in the 20th century. I and many others found his commentaries on Plato to be extremely insightful, not because Strauss is a Jew but because he is a careful reader and good teacher. I myself have learned from Heidegger, Schmitt, van den Bruck, Evola, and others, some of whom were members of the Nazi party, even though I am not a Nazi or Nazi sympathizer. You can learn from Leo Strauss, even though he was a Jew and you are an antisemite (unfortunately) -- provided you think it is worth understanding Plato/Aristotle/etc. By the way, many Jews are worth reading (needless to say, in most circumstances!), even if you are not a Jew, and not because they are indoctrinating you into Judaism (though some maybe are?), but because they are thoughtful guides to fundamental questions of political and human life.

Down the line I think Fuentes may actually become a pretty powerful counterweight to the retardation on the right. He’s smart. He’s somewhat literate. He seems to be progressively moderating now that all these overton windows have been destroyed. He’s more coherent and cogent than Tucker or Candace at this point. He fairly consistently avoids dumb retard/grifter obsessions. He doesn’t spend his time talking about demons or frankists or satanic cults. He’s still part of the retard world bc he came from the fringes but that also gives him a lot of street cred with them. Over time as we begin to start thinking past the trump era he might end up becoming a moderating force that counterbalances the hardcore retards online. He’s still wrong on so much but for serious people on the right tempering a little bit of the retardation would be a gain.

In Democracy in America (which, surely, he has read) De Tocqueville points to the importance of a set of religious mores that constrain possibilities enshrined in the Constitution:

There is a reason for America's prosperity and it resides in freedom mixed with restraint that limits e.g. majoritarianism (the majority can be wrong about something), social engineering, and cruelty.
