Regarding the ridiculous claims of “hottest days in the history of the planet” it is instructive to note that the planet Earth is more than 150 yrs old, 4.6 billion actually. And we are in an interglacial period of the Pleistocene Ice Age today. Here is global temp past 500 M yrs
@DrTedros@WHO The idea that earth’s climate, which is immensely complicated, can be dialed hotter simply by increasing CO2, and lower by decreasing, is very poor science.
This chart of geological time clearly shows that CO2 has no meaningful correlation with Earth’s temperature.
I quoted https://t.co/sNylGvT0rL specifically because it is an alarmist source, since that makes it acceptable to alarmists. However you are apparently not one.
Since you seem genuinely interested in the science of the matter, you may find this recent peer reviewed paper helpful to put the CO2 greenhouse effect into proper perspective as regards the Earth’s climate.
To summarize, the bulk of scientific papers suggest that, because current levels of CO2 in the atmosphere already absorb most available electromagnetic radiation in the small range of CO2’s absorption spectrum, the greenhouse effect on the Earth’s atmospheric temperature will only be between .5 and 1.5 degrees centigrade per doubling of CO2 from current levels. And it would take hundreds of years for CO2 to double at the current (so far relatively steady) rate of increase of approximately 2.33 ppm/year. But far before then humans will have switched to less expensive power sources than burning hydrocarbons.
