A generation of children are being left behind.
They need a voice.
The arbitrariness of regulations persists, with private accommodation businesses not allowed, as if the virus can tell the difference. ECD centres are still closed, even though young children are the least affected by the virus. How then are their parents to go back to work?
Kids are being left alone while parents work/or with a stranger/neighbour. Aside from their safe ECD being closed in level 3, it is also currently illegal for a grandparent to look after their grandchild at gogo's home. Young children have not been considered at all @The_DSD
@bonglez Please can you try and see if you can get the Minister to explain herself? It is outrageous that ECDs still can’t open and DSD refuse to address parents on the issue @The_DSD you need to speak to us parents. Stop ignoring our pleas. Small children are at the least risk!
In other countries ECDs have been open throughout the pandemic, as it is deemed an essential service. Why is our govt not seeing this? Parents need to work and need their safe place for their child, their ECD. Pls read the pinned letter re the damage being caused --> @EcdOf
https://t.co/O6JcxsLgNi The realities of real hunger. Our children are hungry. They need their ECD Centres to open. Their safe place that feeds and cares for them. @The_DSD@JacaNews@eNCA
We have lodged a complaint with the South African Human Rights Commission to urgently investigate Social Development Minister, and her Department’s decision to keep registered Early Childhood Development centres closed.

The @The_DSD has sadly left Solidarity no choice but to take legal action against their unyielding and unsubstantiated lockdown of ECDs. Going against health experts or the fact children and parents are desperately seeking care and education #ECD#COVID19SA
This inspirational lady runs an ECD , and pays her teachers about R600 and a food parcel (not under lockdown), because that is all she can afford. They look after squatter camp children. Where are these children eating now? @carteblanchetv@eNCA@Checkpoint_eNCA@Our_DA@The_DSD
https://t.co/6sBTw8Xs8j @The_DSD@DBE_SA@carteblanchetv@eNCA What a shame hard working & law abiding citizens feel the need to gain help (Solidarity) to take the Govt. to court. It's shameful, especially as this affects our most vulnerable. Our children @Our_DA@HermanMashaba
