@AxeSherwin@JGGolfFitness I have some experience and research in the yips and in full swing or chipping yips any clear focus and goal for the swing tends to help. Usually imbedded within a solid shot routine. So hitting hard could help as suggested below by Scott 👍
This is very sad - Alastair made a truly great contribution to Golf & the science of golf.
A huge privilege to have known him and to be able to recognise his contributions to golf & The PGA with the naming of the ‘Cochran Golf Science Suite’ at the Belfry a couple of years ago.

@BeatTheYips @NGF_@Golfnl My guess...the straightest were the left hand only putts, the best for distance control were with both hands and worst for straightness and length were the right hand only (yips affected hand)?

It does seem very common!
The body changes relative to the environment it is in.
In Space it no longer needs bone density, due to the lack of gravity.
The body adapts to its new environment, in Space, shedding bone density, realising it doesn’t need it.
Too long in Space, we become more like a fish, with slender bones, because we don’t need as much bone density in Space.
Movement changes relative to the environment it is in.
On the Driving range, it no longer needs a repertoire of movement capabilities, due to the lack of variability (lie, target, wind, depth perception, wet ball, boundaries, etc.).
Movement adapts to its new environment, on the driving range, shedding its repertoire of movements.
Too long on the driving range, we become more like a fish out of water when playing golf, with a slender repertoire of movements, because we don’t need as much on the driving range.
But we do on the golf course...
Harrington on the mental game:

@PsychScientists Andrew, hi again and fair play to you for posting this thread. I see interesting responses (eg tennis ball against a wall) and of course we think this doesn’t help. But… this is the real world, good players did this! My point…Cog psyc is not ‘bad’ for coaching! 👍
@PsychScientists Andrew, in cognitive psyc perception, attention and problem solving are 3 key areas as we know. So it could be used well to design practice just the same as an ecologically guided approach? I think the issue is more about some coaching styles not necessarily routed in evidence 🤔
