@ChristinePlat18 These sort of risks lead to significant anxiety in travelling athletes not always able to pick and choose their source of food. You can see why professional level cycling and other teams often travel with chefs and provisions to avoid such risk. #SEMethicsG2
@DrKataria2 Even the third party needs to be contracted and contracts can soon be terminated if management have a change of heart. I think all we can do is be honest and open about where we stand with medical care. If it feels wrong it probably is... Move on. #SEMethicsG2
@Socphysio My concern would be if an athlete deliberately avoided a potentially necessary treatment for fear it would then exempt them from future competition. Even athletes get ill sometimes. Tricky policing issue. #SEMethicsG2
@abs_sem Where do we stand if those comments are about us in the medical field? Could it be deemed as libelous? It certainly has potential repercussions with respect to clinician-patient relationship. #SEMethicsG2
@Drrehana11 I agree I think too little is known at this stage. Anecdotally I do know of an athlete who on one occasion I saw him was praising the development of CBD oil and the next contact I had from him was a total rupture of his biceps tendon... Could be coincidence... #SEMethicsG2
Sad state of affairs when amateur age group athletes turn to doping and when visually impaired athlete's guide cause them to forfeit their medals. Well discovered; well punished ITU! #SEMethicsG2#ITU https://t.co/IsQuUXgnqT
@missjessurgeon Saw this... Where to start?! Understandable emotion and resentment from Duncan, way too much arrogance given circumstances from Sun. (I believe they both got reprimanded for episode.) Is a cheat forever a cheat? #SEMethicsG2
Risk of heat stroke one day, risk of cold injury and more the next. Prompt and sensible decision by Race Director to abort what could easily have resulted in serious accident. Looking out for health & wellbeing of all involved no matter what the cost. #SEMethicsG2
@ClaudiaSerien Really interesting. Question is as an athlete would you want to know? Knowledge may trigger doubt and the end of a career in promising athletes that may never have an issue. Where do we draw a line. Life threatening issues maybe? Minor ailments... Not so sure. 🤔 #SEMethicsG2
@abs_sem Ideally I think we all want what's best in the long-term for any patient, on or off the field. Ethical dilemmas occur when sporting careers and finances are on the line. Still patient autonomy... Even if we believe it to be a bad decision. #SEMethicsG2
@Drrehana11 With such an abundance of products out there and the associated commercial hype it's a mine field. Keeping up ourselves with trends is challenging enough. Especially with the consequences. SEM dedicated dieticians... Your time is now! #SEMethicsG2

@abs_sem It's just potential treatments like this that leaves me itching for more data to become available to analyse the uses and best practices. Need to be well informed clinicians to result in well informed patients. #SEMethicsG2
@ChristinePlat18 Such a recurrent problem. SEM clinicians, coaches, officials and governing bodies need to keep pushing for controls and awareness. #SEMethicsG2
@missjessurgeon Certainly has the scope to provide support and monitoring opportunities. Perhaps prescribed exercise can be included in the social prescribing drive. #SEMethicsG2
@ChristinePlat18 A fair consideration. To my mind though mimicking an environment that certain individuals are naturally exposed to is a different beast to the quick hit cheat of an injectable boost. #SEMethicsG2
Concussion subs may be in place for Ashes https://t.co/CKgtB1UoJr @DrJohnOrchard has been pushing for this I believe. Can you share please John? (Your twitter account?)
