The footpaths of 12th Main, Indiranagar are a mess.
- Piles of rubble rivalling conflict zones
- Trees doubling as dustbins
- Missing/broken slabs
- Inexplicable craters
Billions in venture capital have been deployed in this part of town. The footpaths could use some love too.

“There was no way this plane was going to get through the Israeli security cordon,” says Abhijit Iyer-Mitra as he reconstructs the alleged cockpit drama aboard a Flydubai flight.
“Nothing else explains the 15,000-foot drop,” he argues, suggesting the co-pilot may have been trying to crash the aircraft. Iyer-Mitra describes an alleged cockpit struggle, a pilot “bleeding profusely” after being stabbed, and passengers eventually intervening.
“Disaster was averted,” he says, calling the pilot’s actions “extraordinary.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a conversation with the Indian pilot from the flight from Dubai, Captain Smit Machchhar:
"You are a hero for Israel, India, and the entire world. I invite Prime Minister @NarendraModi and you to light a flame on Israeli Independence Day." 🇮🇱🇮🇳
During the emotional conversation that took place this evening, the Prime Minister asked Captain Machchhar how it all started, and Machchhar revealed new details about the terrifying moments in the cockpit.
I appreciate our Indian Football Team for putting up an extraordinary, spirited fight against five-time World Champions Brazil.
Scorelines do not always capture the true soul of a contest. Watching our boys match stride for stride, battle for every single ball and play with sheer grit and fearlessness against one of the greatest footballing nations in the world filled my heart with immense pride.
West Bengal has always lived, breathed and celebrated the beautiful game. Today, as passionate lover of football, we must praise the relentless spirit of the Blue Tigers. You did not bow down; you held your ground and fought with all your heart.
Today might not have been our day on the scoresheet, but in your valiant fight, there is unmistakable hope for the future. Defeats are only stepping stones to greater heights.
Boys keep your heads held high.

This was the old, real Calcutta before the Leftists formed their government in the 1970s and filled the city with illegal encroachers and beggars.
Encroached footpaths and dilapidated buildings are not its soul. The @BJP4Bengal government must restore the legacy of Calcutta through Kolkata.
If any Leftist opposes the government's reconstruction work for the city, they must be prosecuted strictly. @paulagnimitra1
Good News For Bengal: 🏗️ State to scrap urban land ceiling law to unlock land for development.
🏗️ Bengal moves to scrap a 50-year-old urban land ceiling law: Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta says the 1976 Act is an “impediment” to development.
🏙️ Why it matters: Repeal could make it easier to assemble large urban land parcels, potentially unlocking new real estate, redevelopment and infrastructure projects in Kolkata.
🔓 A major land bottleneck could be removed: Bengal had continued operating under the Urban Land Ceiling framework even after Parliament passed the repeal law in 1999; the state had not adopted that repeal.
🏠 Kolkata’s ageing housing stock is a big opportunity: The government is pitching redevelopment and modernisation of old housing, while seeking greater participation from organised developers.
📈 Bigger message for Bengal’s economy: The land reform is part of a wider push to attract large investments, industrial projects and logistics infrastructure — with the government also examining other land-related laws and building an industrial land bank.
#Breaking: #WestBengal CM #SuvenduAdhikari makes startling claims regarding Mamata Banerjee’s leg injury suffered during 2021 assembly elections.
Says, “Five years ago, during the 2021 assembly elections campaign, former CM Mamata Banerjee faked her leg injury & humiliated Nandigram.”
While presenting the medical reports from the Bangur Institute of Neurosciences, he stated that the document dated March 11, 2021 clearly stated -‘no evidence of fracture’.
He announced that the state government would launch an investigation into this & further steps to be disclosed after the conclusion of by-elections.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that India has secured the deportation of hardened narco-trafficking kingpin Navpreet Singh from Türkiye.
In his tweet, the Union Home Minister wrote, "...Obtaining Turkish citizenship under the fake identity of Navab Virk, he had continued to smuggle heroin and methamphetamine to India from Afghanistan. Our agencies tracked him down, ripping apart veil after veil to unmask his true identity, and secured his deportation. Today, he has been brought back to India and put behind bars in connection with cases involving drug trafficking and other crimes he is accused of. Congratulations to all the agencies for this success."
