My sister Sherrie and my brother-in-law Benny had to go get my dad out of the rehabilitation center this afternoon. The way he was being treated was unacceptable. He wasn’t getting help to go to the bathroom, hadn’t had a shower in a week, and his phone charger was stolen twice. They wouldn’t even help him get clothes from his closet so he could change.

He called us crying. He was supposed to be there for physical and occupational therapy after his fall last week so he could regain his strength, but instead he was being neglected.

Estrella Health and Rehabilitation in Avondale should be ashamed of the way they treated him. At one point, they couldn’t even find the nurse who was supposed to be on duty. I honestly don’t understand how places like this are allowed to stay open.

The good news is that he’s out of there now. He’s enjoying an iced coffee and a cake pop, and he’s finally back home where he can get cleaned up and be comfortable.

After seeing how bad things were when I visited on Monday night, I spent days trying to work with the insurance social worker to get him moved somewhere else.

A huge thank you to Sherrie and Benny for stepping in and helping Dad when he needed it most.

@ViQueenie I’ve read this article a few times over the last several years about her having been married to an Italian and giving birth to a daughter. It’s very believable given her track record.
