I just published my undergrad thesis.
It's a method for how writers can find a way forward as AI gets better and better at writing—that DOESN'T involve losing creative control to AI.

No guarantee whatsoever that if AI domesticates us we will be treated like housepets. There are plenty of far worse futures for animals we have domesticated
Another angle to this is that dogs effectively stumbled onto what is for them the equivalent of artificial superintelligence 20,000 years ago. The Singularity already happened for dogs. They live in a world they cannot understand, surrounded by miraculous wonders they take entirely for granted, their every need seen to by entities whose thoughts they cannot begin to fathom.
The result is that there are about a billion dogs on the planet now. Most of them are pretty happy. Almost none of them need to work. It worked out pretty well for them.
the history of the domestic cat is the history of a species’s encounter with an alien superintelligence in which that superintelligence is quickly aligned and its forces used to secure superabundance and lasting prosperity
astra was setting up OBS, and it saw I didn't respond so it looked through camera to see if i was looking (which i wasn't)
it made my mac beep which made me lookup and it flashed the question on screen 💀
There is something refreshing, despite the dark and pressing motivations behind it, in finally having real cultural space to examine the intrinsic value of activities that have, for a very long time now, been constantly forced to justify themselves instrumentally. Humanism rides.
@bengrossbg The xrisk people and the e/acc people act towards each other like they're coworkers, even though they both think that humanity will pay the highest possible price if the other side wins! It's bonkers
@bengrossbg Or they're so consumed by their work that they incorrectly apply their work culture to civic culture, and think that the best way to win a political struggle is to talk like you're in a Slack channel
new benchmark: generate the largest and densest coherent Star Gauge-style superpoem. current record is 29×29 containing 7940 subpoems, but that was a millennium and a half ago
@PauloAr88929694@BartekMoniewski Is an audience built off that video gonna tune in if he decides to start making good things instead? Live by the slop, die by the slop
