@Cem_Res @MartinSLewis That’s really poor, especially as some of them are capable and really do want to teach and encourage the undergrads. I worked out that my dauaghter’s ‘contact hours’ cost about £100 each. The problem is with the universities setting expectations and under-delivering.

@anninbarry @MartinSLewis It’s a very difficult situation to deal with effectively. My daughters’ university had strategies, but they boiled down to warnings during the assignment, and then ‘punishment’ (low/zero marks) after assignment completion. Neither helps the students who do all the work.

@MartinSLewis Make sure you understand what ‘contacts hours’ consist of. Lectures, seminars, tutorials, labs. Some degrees have very few lectures when you take out seminars etc.

@chrischirp You are lucky to experience such clear skies. I lived in California for 13 years and visited Yosemite quite a few times. I can’t remember a single time when there wasn’t at least some smoke in the sky from forest fires.
