Many, many people are scared and shattered right now. And even more will be in the days to come. All across America. And around the world. Especially inside Ukraine. And across NATO.

America has eaten its integrity. Its heart. Its soul.

And #OurEnemiesAreCelebrating. In Russia, in China, and around the world.

There will be deep heartbreak, anger and despair across half of our country. And so much pain. It’s the time to dig down deep. To reach out, to surround each other with love, to keep looking forward, to be strong, and to call ourselves to the fight for the future. Which now only intensifies. We’ve got to stay as cool as we can. Shit is about to get crazy. It will be dark, long, and hard. Especially for the most vulnerable among us.

Trump and his minions will want us to quit. They will want us to leave. They will want us to fold. They will bully even harder. They will want us to go along to get along. But we can’t. And we won’t. I won’t.

We also can’t count on, wait for, or rebuild around the Democratic Party. It’s a spectacularly failed vehicle. A relic. The challenge we face now has always been—and is especially now—bigger than one corrupt and dysfunctional party. It’s time to truly think, plan and lead differently. Independently.

We need to find the strength to stay focused and keep pushing forward. For our kids. For our democracy. And in the face of the looming threats from our enemies. Foreign and domestic. This is the time for real leaders to rise to the moment. For us all to rise to the moment. As true patriots. Leaders our kids and grandkids will one day be proud of. As we face the political and social equivalent of the Great Depression.
