Lamprey are 300 million years old and so primordial that we are more closely related to a salmon then they are. These brook lamprey from the spring create a redd and spawn in the gravels.

@copseworker Lots of talking but little in the way of actually getting on with it, I wonder why Knepp hasn't jumped at this. To see both the Eurasian Wolf and Lynx back would be pretty special, having said that they may just appear much as the Beaver did 😉

@chris_harrod @VoyaWolfProject @FransVera @TheFSBI No issue really, so many fish spawning the loss of a few is not really noticed. Much the same as the Otters feasting on frogs during their spawning.

The 10 overwintering cormorants, however, are impacting fish stocks and removal of habitat but that's a whole different story.

@chris_harrod As per fishing wolves, here is a fishing one-eyed fox I mentioned, both she and otters visited this area throughout the roach spawn.. This was mid-May #fishingFox

@chris_harrod @VoyaWolfProject @FransVera @TheFSBI Thank you, actually discovered while monitoring our local Otter population, both species capitalizing on a free and easy meal with each returning through the night to feed. Clearly both respect each other as no interactions were recorded. I'll see if I can find some video

@BeastBladeWolf @VoyaWolfProject @FransVera You are quite correct, an incorrect word used, what I should have said is Canis, the fox being Vulpes, so very different creatures but taking advantage of seasonal gluts and access to easier food sources.
