In the past 1000 days of resilience, during which the people of #Ukraine have proven themselves to be amongst the bravest in the world, countless innocent Ukrainians have died in defence of their homeland and our shared cause of freedom.
Having just returned from Ukraine, where alongside the Leader of @Kent_cc, we signed an agreement linking Kent and #Chernihiv in lasting friendship and cooperation, I think of all the incredible people that I have had the honour of meeting in Chernihiv and the many many volunteers here in Kent who are working tirelessly to support Ukraine.
During the recent trip (which we funded personally), Roger and I visited the sites where horrific war crimes had taken place, we saw first-hand the damage that drones and bombs inflict upon civilian populations everyday, we laid flowers at the memorials of men younger than myself who have paid the ultimate price for freedom and we witnessed the immense pain that the war is continuing to cause nearly three years later. But despite all this from the 6 year olds, to the grandparents, we also witnessed a resilience and determination that will see Ukraine through this hardship.
Today I keep in my prayers all the Ukrainians who are working tirelessly just for that simple right to live under a peaceful sky and promise that from communities across Kent we will continue to play our small part in supporting our friends in Chernihiv and Ukraine both now and beyond your victory.
This morning, the riverside community of Gravesend came together to commemorate #MerchantNavyDay.
During a short service, we honoured the brave men and women of our Merchant Navy who made many sacrifices to keep Britain alive during both World Wars, and who today continue to risk their lives at sea in facilitating our global trade and national security.
Thank you to Dr Vasudaven DL for attending and representing @LordLieutKent.

Words from a Ukrainian teenager about his home region and the support he has received here in #Kent led to an emotional standing ovation at full council.

As I mentioned in my address to @Kent_cc I consider it the privilege of a lifetime to be working alongside Governor Viacheslav and his colleagues at the #Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, Ukraine. Looking forward to now continuing and maximising our cooperation work to the benefit of the residents of Chernihiv and Kent. #SlavaUkraini 🇺🇦🇬🇧
My thoughts are with everyone who was innocently caught up and those injured in yesterday's horrific attack at the Gurdwara in #Gravesend.
Thank you to our emergency services who were quick to respond and especially @kent_police for providing a reassuring presence in the community and long into the night. It is important now that we allow the Police time to conduct their investigations.

Despite the rain, it was excellent to spend the day at @kentcountyshow.
With the 4th largest agricultural workforce in the country, it is important that we value the significant contribution that farming and agriculture brings to the Kent economy.
Honoured to be a judge at final of the @AletheiaAT Speaking Competition held at @StGsGravesend. It was incredibly inspiring to hear the students make their speeches. Everyone who took part should be so proud and thank you to the Trust for organising a brilliant day! 👏
Great to be in Higham last night as the village came together in 40s style to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the #DDay. Thanks to Higham Parish Council for organising.

I am absolutely delighted to have been elected Chairman of Kent County Council. It’s a huge honour and a privilege and I look forward to supporting two local Kent based charities this year, which are We are Beams and the Elliott Holmes Memorial Fund.
I have been @cmackinlay's friend for almost 20 years, and his election agent at every election he has fought as a Conservative (bar one!)
He is a man of unmatched political principle and personal courage. I will be proudly his side again this time.
Bring it on!
Real pleasure to welcome students from across north Kent @AletheiaAT to Westminster. It was brilliant to see how excited the pupils were to explore Parliament and to learn more about democracy at all levels.
What a moment. @cmackinlay is a man of incredible bravery and courage. Wishing this champion of freedom all the best as he returns to Parliament today.
@cyclopark with @MeadeJordan to see amazing facilities on offer for cyclists of all types - from toddlers learning to ride, school groups, people with disabilities and mobility issues, adults cycling for health and leisure, through to serious competitive racers! Very impressed!
My warmest congratulations to @matthewinkent on his re-election as Kent's Police and Crime Commissioner. Looking forward to continuing working together as we strive to keep Gravesham and Kent safe. #PCCElections
Big thank you to TJ's Pub for hosting a special gathering this morning to celebrate #OrthodoxEaster for our displaced Ukrainian friends in #Gravesend. A very #HappyEaster to everyone celebrating today and #SlavaUkraini 🇺🇦🇬🇧 ☦️
Solid day of campaigning across Gravesham today. Pleasure to be out and about with @MatthewInKent in Higham, Shorne and Gravesend. Matthew is committed to making our community safer place and he is thoroughly deserving of your support on Thursday. 🗳️ #VoteMatthewScott #PCCElections @bryan_sweetland@alanmridgers@helen_ashenden
What an emotional evening. Just got home from @ThePCCLondon, where I attended the premiere screening of @OzKaterji's film, 'The Battle for Kyiv' (@BylineTimes). This incredible film highlights in chilling detail the extraordinary bravery of ordinary people and the utter depravity of the Russian regime. Thank you, Oz, for showing the world why we must never stop supporting Ukraine. 🇺🇦 Journalism at its finest #SlavaUkraini #StandWithUkraine #Kyiv

Thank you to Deputy Lieutenant Dr Vasudaven DL (@LordLieutKent) for joining us and thanks to Gurvinder Sandher MBE DL (@cohesionplus) for another excellently organised parade. The team at St George's Church under The Rev Jim Fltecher were exceptional hosts. Thank you all.
