Pleased to see our new paper in print in @JBiogeography! To read a general audience overview of the study, see my blog post here: https://t.co/PAfyoPBNKH! For a quicker summary, check out the next few tweets! 1/6
This week we welcomed to @esa ESRIN (our home in Italy) colleagues from CHIME and @NASAJPL SBG missions.
CHIME and NASA’s Surface Biology Geology mission will provide global scale operational Imaging Spectroscopy observations

New paper out led by @carBenPoulter in @JGRBiogeo where we describe our simulation of globally-gridded imaging spectroscopy (IS) data derived from a global dynamic vegetation model in support of the future #NASA SBG mission.

Furthermore, by linking a radiative transfer model to the dynamic global vegetation model LPJ, we can potentially leverage the IS data as inputs for future model development.

Drylands:
🌍 Make up 41% of the Earth’s land surface
🧑🤝🧑 Are home to 2 billion people
🌳 Contain 27% of the world’s forests
🐐 Contain 50% of the world’s livestock
🌽 Supply about 60% of the world’s food production

Late to posting as usual but ~in case you missed it~ check out the recent @NatureComms publication from the Brookshire Lab group led by @justindavidgay!🧵 https://t.co/5unw3fuDyB
Main findings:
1) Tropical montane forest N pool is disproportionately large relative to the extent of montane tropical forests.
2) Globally consistent pattern of increasing soil N and decreasing δ15N with increasing elevation
3) Temperature is the main driver
How do global drylands respond to shifts in disturbance regimes? We are hiring a 2.5 year postdoc to study the mechanisms controlling biogeochemical responses to disturbances. Visit North & South America, Africa, and Australia. Funds via @ERC_Research

🚨Excited to (finally) share the 2nd chapter from my dissertation - out now in @naturecomms. We find that tropical montane forest soils hold a large pool of nitrogen that is highly sensitive to warming (🧵). https://t.co/6O4DEH1rTD
@SoildocTony@justindavidgay@GCB_Bioenergy@xkcd I've used that tool in the past. It is SO challenging to write about science using only those most common words. I tried to explain my dissertation using that tool and couldn't do it haha
