@DanielEbrahim@Aidan_Baron Mate, they paid for trips to New York staying in the Ritz Hotel with educational visits to hospitals and talks on palliative care at Sloane Kettering Hospital.
@buctootim @TomStocks1982 @gmcuk So, when three patients had upper GI bleeds I must have imagined that the F1 popped in two large lines, ordered blood, FFP, and platelets for two patients while we were in the operating theatre with the third patient. Thanks to her, all three patients did well.
@Shamz_141@Sadhbh_PA I recall a patient who went into asystole when given verapamil in ED in the days before we had adenosine. Unfortunately, her drug history did not include the beta-blocker that she was taking at the time. She forgot to tell us about it. Verapakill.
@rahttled_doc When I was a trainee, one consultant likened himself to Albert Pierrepoint, the hangman. His aim was to have the patient unconscious within 30 seconds of saying hello. (The ODP, or trainee, had already cannulated the patient, and we were using thiopentone.)
@Covid50s It is an offence to interrupt a Christian church service. (Offences against the Person Act 1861, Section 36) but that section also includes unspecified places of worship. So quite even handed really.
@jfdwolff I see patients with low serum albumin levels and perfectly functioning guts, yet nobody is paying attention to feeding them. Same with IV fluids.
Meanwhile, all sorts of IV plans are being laid out. I suppose feeding and watering is too labour intensive
@thatkirstylang@BBCSounds This is an incredibly poor decision.
Interesting fact: French school kids have all learned that D-Day was an American operation because they gave photos to French school textbook publishers. In fact, British Empire forces outnumbered the Americans at D-Day. See the effect?
@vlotty@pikepeakduc@CricketSurfing@DrNeilStone My Swedish colleague tells me that social norms in Scandinavia mean that they tend to socially distancing everyday life. When told we must be 2metres apart, he joked “why do we have to get so close?”
@dickandtinasson@doctorhelgi Ah, right. We have anaesthesia rooms (which I dislike) but it allows us to anaesthetise the patient while the room and instruments are prepared. We also have instrument lay up rooms. So a lot of things can happen in parallel. But I think 14 cases is pushing the limit!
